"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

You brilliant son of a bitch. Ima have to look into if verizon is setting up @ the main orlando event.

You'll be the second person to have done this already. I've also spoken to my friends in the promotions department at Clear Chanel Orlando (in the Maitland offices). I've known a few of them for quite a few years and they've hooked me up before in the past. Even they know of no Verizon promotions or tents or tables at either "Star Spangled Sanford" "Fireworks at the Fountain" or "Red Hot & Boom." So, if you know of other 4th events that are as big as those in the area...check it out. Personally, I'm going to two different Kissimmee events in the afternoon before heading to a private party in Lakeland in the evening.

Good luck fellow Orlando hunters! ^_^ As long as someone on these forums finds it in Florida, I'll be happy.

Long time listener, first time caller...

In regards to a Cleveland 4th of July event (will be held on the 4th):

Cleveland: Fireworks will rise from the Cuyahoga River's mouth on Lake Erie at 10 p.m. The show, sponsored by FirstEnergy Corp. and the Flats Oxbow Association, can be seen from far aroundfor free. Or you can watch from onboard the William G. Mather at the Great Lakes Science Center, 601 Erieside Ave., as part of a Rock and Boom evening, which starts at 6 p.m. and costs $12 for nonmembers. Or start with the Family Fest in the Flats at 6:30 p.m. at the RTA Settler's Landing Station, 1500 Old River Road, and enjoy Euclid Beach nostalgia: rocket ship rides, Humphrey popcorn and more. If weather postpones the fireworks, they will fire up Monday.

I updated the community map to suggest the science center yesterday or the day before for the following reason:

Earlier, someone suggested that the "it has no choice" clue suggested caught between a rock and a hard place. Conveniently, the Science center sits between the rock hall and Cleveland browns stadium which, if you are a fellow Cleveland browns fan, you know that browns stadium is a hard place for the browns to win (hard place for a Cleveland fan to go, the players have no choice but to go there, etc). This is in addition to the fact of course that the science center is home to the retired "eye" (or lens) of the nearby light house which formerly sent out "amber waves" across the lake.

If someone else goes and beats me to it, good for you! I will try and take a drive to investigate while using Layer sometime this weekend, but its a very busy weekend and I really hate paying for parking downtown.

I still think the Cleveland X is at the hardrock. The hint said basically that the phone rocks and it has to because it has no choice.... as between a rock and a hard place... as in hard rock...

From the last tweet, I have a feeling that while it won't be a huge sign or anything, it won't be so discreet you can't find it. Basically if you're looking for it, you'll know when you've found it.

As a side note, I keep getting twitter over capacity. Damn, did everybody catch on?

@shtfactory. That's some good deductive reasoning. I'll be adding this to my list of places to stop this weekend. That's assuming someone else doesn't go there and find it before me.

Nice work shtfactory...I just hope they aren't trying to make this that difficult. lol Especially since so many Droids still have no clues so far and there's less than 2 weeks left.

for you so-cal freaks. Verizon Wireless Amphitheater is having a 4th of july tribute to John Denver. rocky mountain high. jet plane. colorado blah blah blah

Est. July 2, 1998 <---- 7.2.2010

Cleveland, the Nation’s best kept secret in rock n' roll is proudly home to not just the iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, but the only Hard Rock located in Ohio. Can you say Cleveland Rocks!

Think about it! That's twice the rock memorabilia of most medium-sized American cities! Not too shabby. For added amusement you also get the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the Great Lakes Science Center, and be sure to visit the Terminal Tower Observation Deck from which you can watch the city's skyline change from 42 floors above street level.

The Hard Rock Cafe Cleveland is located in Tower City in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of Progressive Field and The Q Arena. Devoted fans of the Indians and Cavaliers rock the house year round, and now you can, too!

Edit: amber is missing though

As for Droid #3 in CA, there is a huge 4th of July celebration going on in my hometown, Mountain View (aka Google Headquarters) where they have a concert with the SF symphony and fireworks. They also have major giveaways at the end and lots of activities beforehand. This sounds like the ideal event for some sort of Verizon promotion. I'll be going to this so I will be sure to look for anything suspicious.

Sure thing. I am really intrigued by #2 above, though.

Anyone else think that yesterday's 2nd tweet involves fireworks? You know how they explode in all kinds of shapes and designs now? Maybe they made some that explode in the shape of the Droid eye?!?!? Anyone near a 4th celebration with VZW as a sponsor?

AmberWaves of hdmi.....that reminds me of fireworks exploding on the 4th!!! :)

and will places like Texasmotorspeedway have a fireworks event???

The HRC sign might be considered amber....

They opened at 11:00 for lunch, I was there at 10:45.

Asked the employees, most didn't know what I was talking about.
The manager said "it's not here." He said if it was, he would have it! He said he would know if it was there - he's the manager. Took that with a grain of salt.

Bought an iced tea and searched the restarant for 90 minutes. It's not a big place, 2 small floors. Looked under the tables, on the chairs, all the signs and memorabilia on both floors.

looked at the bar area...

looked BEHIND the Hard Rock Cafe sign on the inside wall (it is made of an AMBER colored metal, brass or something...) Especially behind the word ROCK and the BRICK wall - ("No Choice = between a rock and a hard place.)

Looked through the souvenier shop, outside on the patio, in the platers...

My current theory:
I think it will be in a dark place or at night (droid x's enhanced vision...)
I think we are on track with location: the Rock & Roll HoF, or the Hard Rock Cafe

Probably my last search, unless it is not found over the long weekend...

the owner was probably ready to call the cops on some wierd bastard looking under all the tables!

lol that was funny. I wish there was a clue near me, i would be doing the same thing!

jonnyk110:
Did you look around the sign out front? I'm nowhere near there but from the satellite views it looks like the guitar sign is actually anchored on the street below (looks to be 30 ft down); maybe it's down there and not up on the same level as the restaurant?

Excellent detective work, you don't by chance already have an Android phone that you could have pulled up layer while you were there?

Good Luck to you guys. I don't think their will be any "escaped" Droid Xs around NC. I could be wrong though.
