Help Missing images / videos

Novice using htc desire.
Took a few pics and video clips of my sons presentation night. Even forwarded one pic in a text message. But now in the gallery there is no image or video, just a symbol on grey background. Opened SD card on PC but no luck opening files. Am I doing something really stupid??? Help please!

Thanks for replying Uster,
firstly, I could find icons for the images / vids but, no, I couldn't open them.
secondly, how do I use this ES explorer and where is it on my phone.
sorry, but some of us really are this naive!

You probably couldn't open them on PC because of missing video codecs.

Go to Android Market on you phone and search for the ES File Explorer (click on the link I've posted above), then download and install it in your phone.

Still no joy I'm afraid. "could not open file" message.:(:(:(
So you can see the recorded video file on the phone, but can't open them. Seems like the recorded file is corrupted.

Take another recording and see if you can open it (first in Gallery, then via File explorer on the phone).

Thanks again, I video'd your response from the screen as a test and it works fine in both gallery and explorer.
So how does this corruption occur? For both images and vids?:confused:

Usta!! You've abandoned me!!:)
How can a file corrupt from one moment to the next without having been connected to anything else in between. Simply from accessing the gallery from one time to another? I would really appreciate any explanation. Thanks.

LOL. Give me time to respond, as I'm not always on internet... :D
One possible reason would be that the card is going bad. So watch out - if such error occur, then it's probably time to replace the card.

Thanks very much for the advice Usta, I'll replace the card ASAP. I have some very special memories of my kids captured on my phone so to lose them would be very distressing. I'll back up all data on the card now to prevent this happening and thank you once again.
All the best to you:D
