Help Missing message & notif tones

Hi everyone, please try to help. :|

I just got my wildfire a week ago. So far, I've only put around 10 pictures and 5 songs in it from my laptop, and downloaded some games from the Android Market.

The other day it started to not sound off when I get messages and notifications. I tried to fix it so I went to the Settings of the phone, but everytime I tried it just said "Sounds and Display not responding", something like that so I just click "Force Close". So i turn it off and on, and everytime I do that the message tone works but only for a while. A few messages later it doesnt work again.

Please please, if anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

are you on android 2.1 or 2.2

aer you using a stock application or one downloaded from market ? if you downloaded an application for messaging you will need to set it up in the settings of the apop.

I'm using a stock application. I'm new to the whole Android thing so I don't really know how everything works yet.
