Missing Message Widget

The Message widget has suddenly disappeared from the Home screen of my HTC Desire. And there definitely is gap where it used to be. BUT ... when I try to add it back I keep getting an error message "No room for this widget". Er, what's happened?

I can add the widget to another screen of course, but I'd like it back on the Home screen

Reboot your phone m8 that should get your missing widget back.

Maybe hold the screen where the widget used to be and see if there's a broken link there that you can drag to the delete then re-add the widget.
