Root Missing (not really) contacts issue

[joreljones]

Yesterday I rooted my phone and forgot to backup my contacts so obviously I lost them. When certain people text me whose numbers I have not added to my contacts again it says their name and phone number and stuff. How is that possible? How do I get my phone to show me those contacts in the contacts list with the rest of the people that I have added again?

If you save your contacts to Google/Gmail, they are automatically backed up.

They aren't though.

They aren't though.

perhaps the ones with names that show up were "inadvertently" saved in google, and the other names that are not there, were not saved in google, they were saved to the phone memory. follow? you can save contacts in 2 different locations..
