Missing notification icon and updating with root

2 questions.

First: I have a blank spot in my notification bar up top that doesn't seem to correllate with any of my apps. Does anyone else experience this? See picture below for reference.

Second question, I rooted using Odin, but I kept the stock bootloader. Basically I rooted just so I could install root required apps, not to put CMod or anything like that on it. Am I safe to update to the latest version (the one that gives you multi-view suport) without having to undo root and go back to stock?

Some apps put an invisible or transparent icon on the Status bar. If you pull down the Notifications list you may see notifications corresponding to the blank icons. The settings for the apps displaying those notifications should have a setting for making their status icon invisible.

Found out what the app was. My Data Manager leaves an erroneous blank spot for some reason. Now any thoughts on updating the firmware while rooted?

I went ahead and bit the bullet on running the update. It worked without a hitch, but I'm pretty sure it un-rooted the phone since SuperU doesn't update anymore.
