Help Misspelled Password

So...I misspelled my password and couldn't get into my phone for a bit. Finally I did get in but neglected to pay attention to how I actually spelled the password :/
Now I need to change my password to one that is spelled correctly however since I don't know how the misspelled word is actually spelled....I can change it :(
Is there anything besides resetting my phone that will work?!
Thank you!

How can you mis-spell a password twice (as you need to confirm it when setting it up in the first place) then somehow get it right and get in, then after all that effort to do so, not only do you not take that opportunity to correct the incorrect password, but somehow manage to forget it again?

I have no idea. I realize that I appear to be a complete idiot, but the fact is I need help. If you can't help me, why make me feel worse about it?

Dont get your knickers in a twist.

I'm not trying to make you feel worse. I'm just trying to establish that you dont have a stolen phone, or are not trying to get into someone else's phone that's all.
Can you not understand my suspicions?

And in any case, barring a factory reset, I don't think there is a quick fix, sorry.

Yes I can understand your suspicions, I didn't even see it that way. I apologize! I appreciate your trying to help....looks like the reset is what I'm doing. Currently backing up my photos etc so I can do just that. Ugh.

No worries! :)

Personally I never bother with any security, just a swipe-to-unlock lockscreen.
However, if you had set up the device with a pattern lock instead of a password, then I believe there is the option on that to put an incorrect pattern in 5 times or so, and it will present you with a "forgot" button, whereby you enter your google account+password and it unlocks it and allows you to set up the pattern again.

Maybe for you, set a pattern lock next time instead?
:p

For a password protected device, I dont think there is any other way other than a factory reset unfortunately.

One good thing about this little encounter is, a Factory Reset is a VERY good thing to do once in a while. Gets rid of a lot of unwanted crap that might have built up over the past few/many months, clogging up and slowing down your phone.
I've lost count the number of times I've completely wiped my S4 due to many ROM flashes. You'll be surprised how quickly you can get your setup back to the way it was, and you will probably notice a difference in performance afterwards.

Good luck.

The short answer is that you can't.

Short of remembering the correct password, there is no way of doing this. If there were, there wouldn't be much point in having password protection.

While I wouldn't disagree about the benefits of doing this, when I have, the surprise has been how long it took get everything back the way it should. I wasn't completely happy with my setup for about two weeks after the last time I did it.

I do factory resets sometimes 10 times a week, and you will be surprised how efficient you become to get everything back 100% as-was.
Takes me under an hour.

Cripes!

I've probably only done 10 ever.

Getting most things back is fairly quick. I use Titanium Backup Pro which, despite having a truly awful interface, is nevertheless very useful. However, what takes the time is all the little apps that I don't use very often and selectively restoring user data. If I just restored the lot willy nilly, it would take less time but that would miss out some of the benefits of doing the resets in the first place.

They do say practice makes perfect. It looks like you are putting in plenty of practice :).

all the ROM settings and restoring the apps through Titanium is the easy bit.
This takes me about 10 minutes max.
I know which apps I should restore app only, and app+data, and its the setting up of the apps that do not restore app+data that takes up the most time, as I know certain apps always FC unless cleanly installed. This can take me about 30 minutes more.
And of course, using a launcher that can back up the settings+homescreens (eg. nova) makes a HUGE difference.

All that then remains is to repair to BT devices, then job's a good 'un.
