Root MIUI and battery life

Kibbster

After using MIUI for a couple of weeks and whilst loving the ROM itself was not so impressed with the battery life.
I decided to give one of the new (v2 I think) MANU kernels a go and I am so far very impressed.
I used set CPU to set underclock to 128 and overclock to 1036 and the battery life has improved a lot.
I'd have to say it's not a million miles away from Redux on battery life now on Standby.

Never worried about screen on time as not much is going to save the battery if you actually use the phone ;)

But if MIUI users are finding battery problems well worth giving a new kernel a go.

To be honest, i don't find Miui (XJ) to have that much better life than over standard.

Go on then, how do you go about changing the Kernel? Advantages/Disadvantages?

You have to flash the kernel from recovery like any other zip.
It replaces some core Android files and changes some of the basic hardware settings of the phones.

SO advantages - can get much better battery life.
Disadvantages - same as flashing any other file from recovery if in the unlikely event it all goes wrong.
If something doesn't work you have to flash your ROM back over the top to overwrite it.
