Root MIUI and IncrediKernel Battery Life

I rooted my phone, flashed a new kernel and put MIUI on it. The battery life is beyond amazing with the screen off, like only draining 5% in 5-6 hours, but screen on, its draining like crazy - about 1% per minute! Is this normal? Is there any way to make the screen-on battery life any better?

I'm running the latest version of MIUI with Incredikernel Ingenious 2.6.38.8 Beta 2. I have SetCpu set on 883 max and 245 min and 2.15.00.07.28 radio
 
What are you doing with the phone while the screen is on? Or does it drain that fast just looking at the home screen?
 
It really just happens when the screen is on, I'm not running any apps at the time, its just at the home screen and the battery goes poof

EDIT: I actually now believe that the music player while the screen is off drains it too. Phone calls too
 
Well your screen is the biggest power draw on the phone so that is not surprising. Try lowering your brightness and setting you screen timeout to as short as you can stand.
 
The brightness is down almost all the way and it times out almost immediately. When the screen is on, I understand it uses more battery, but that usage compared to the screen off usage makes it seem like something is up
 
Are you using tiny 's beta 2 with sa2?

Mine is similar. I get great battery life from the 7/6 incredikernel but I am trying tiny's
