Root MIUI now available for nook!

i was hoping for some miui love but then all i read was cm7 comments. i just couldnt "LOVE" cm7. Sure it got my nook rooted and a decent rom but it's a huge phone type interface. i can give two #### if some idiot mistakes my miui nook for a maxi pad er um whyPad. that would be a hilarious mistake to make. i'd like to show him what mine can do vs a pos over priced ten inch hunk of junk

I'm considering switching to MIUI on NC from Cyanongenmod 7 and HC.......neither of which had working youtube. Does youtube (or videos) work on NC MIUI?

Doesn't MIUI just run CM7 under the hood (in which case it would probably have the same problem as CM7).

I'm not aware of a Youtube problem, just Netflix. I can't remember the last time I used it on my X or NC.

What's the problem? (play too fast?)
What have you tried?
All videos or just certain ones?

Yes, it's just a skinned CM7 essentially.

I don't have any issues with the YouTube app, or playing it in the browser with Flash, FWIW. Must be a simple issue.

The only serious issue I saw where the NC wouldn't play video (or any audio/video media at all for that matter) was when my friend bought one from eBay a month ago, and it came DOA with a fried audio chip. Everything worked fine, except there was absolutely zero media playback, the back corner of the unit behind the audio chip became very hot when on, and a strange pulsing sound would come from the headset jack when it was plugged in to charge.

I was running GB on my DroidX and a GB version of MIUI came out (previous versions required returning to Froyo to install) so flashed it last night. I'm not fond of the stock launcher, which just clutters up the desktop with an icon every time an app is installed, but switching back to my LPP fixed that. I REALLY like the styling of the rom tho.

Battery life is not good, about half as long as the stock rom (80% after 8 hours idle and similar to CM7 and other 2nd Init roms) and the camera is horrible, almost unusable. I also have some apps that have white text on a light gray background. I'll try it for a few more days and decide if it's worth keeping.

It appears the Nook version still uses a button hack app (Button Savior I think) so they still haven't implemented Murdock's Tablet Tweaks that are standard in the CM7 that MIUI is derived from. (Somebody dropped the ball there.)

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I just installed MIUI on the Nook via SD card (using CM7 installer) and it is working great. I also have it on my Thuderbolt, so I like the interface and I'm used to it. I haven't read many posts here (in case this is old news), but you can use the CM7 installer to put MIUI on your bootable SD card by adding "update-cm-" in front of the MIUI file name that you can download from miui.us.

I have to admit, the softkeys aren't the best, but I like MIUI so much that I am willing to live with it.

There's no reason to have softkeys, since Murdock's tablet tweaks are used on CM7 and MIUI is based on CM7, it could be using them.

There are alternatives to softkeys, like button savior.

Hi all
I just started running Miui on my nook color via sd card and one issue I've encountered that I cannot figure out via settings etc is when I choose to use the flip clock widget it will only work in the 24 format, irregardless of what my time settings are.

Also does anyone know if it's possible to change the color of the Button Savior bar?
Anyone here know anything about this?

TIA
