Root MIUI Overclocking?

KrippyKreme

Android Enthusiast
So, I just flashed MIUI to diversify my style. How do I achieve overclocking with this ROM installed? It looks really good, but I'd like to have some speed, too. Also, is MMS working correctly with this ROM?

mms works and i use cpu master from the market. the kernal is already overclock-able. but if you want the smartass governor, download Tiamat Kernal from the ROM/Root thread

Is GPS working correctly with MIUI?

I've been using MIUI for a few days now. Everything works perfectly. Its really an impressive rom and feels more snappy than Sense and gps works perfectly.

The only issue i had with it was that the in call volume was kind of low compared to the stock kernel (known issue with AOSP kernels), but installing the Tiamat kernel resolves this issue.

Does it just install and reboot and that's that?

Update: Just downloaded Kernel Manager. Is Tiamat stable? Only 58 downloads for INC2 and 2.4 rating?

yes very stable atleast with MIUI, i dont know who rated it so bad but i love it

and yeah just click on it, it does the rest

Its stable and works great.
Keep in mind that not everyone uses kernel manager to install it or bothers to rate the rom in kernel manager.
I download mine through their website, and install through ROM manager.

So, other than being able to overclock this thing to nearly 2ghz, what's the purpose of Tiamat? What good does it do for my phone?

Thanks for the responses by the way!

Lagos is right, most people havent even heard of kernal manager

Tiamat is a little quicker than the stock CM kernal, and it has the smartass governor, which in my opinion, is the best for speed and battery

What's a good, consistent, maximum mhz to stay around? Surely 2024mhz would rape your battery and maybe ruin the phone?

FYI: Don't overclock to 2035mhz. I tried it twice and I had to do a battery pull to unfreeze the phone.

different phones can handle different frequencies. i stay at 1344, but play around with it.

BTW, Im getting really amazing battery life with this rom and the Tiamat kernel. At the end of the day (15hours or so since unplugged) I still have 44% battery life while the stock rom would be getting close to being plugged in right now.

Just decided to try 1.9.2 and I love it so far. I tried MIUI before but got tired of the iPhone-like setup. Gonna give it another try here.
Hope to hear about other's experience with the new version too.

The MIUI updater is awesome! Incredibly painless and you're up on the new version in 5 mins. I run Launcher Pro on top of MIUI so that I can keep my sense-like widgets. I love the messenger and music apps though. Plus, theming is ridiculously easy and fun.

I had ADW on top of it, but lately i'm bored with other launchers. I need to learn how to create a launcher and sell it.
