Root MIUI Partition question

So this is what it reads on the MIUI thread at XDA

INSTALLATION:
- Full Wipe + Wipe Dalvik Cache if coming from a non MIUI Rom
- Install zip from sdcard
- Reboot, see wintimer log for waiting time, as if it's accurate, ha ha
- Choose English locale in Settings if you get Chinese, it should be EN by default
- D2W rom stablize 5 to 10 minutes
- A2SD by default,

ACTIVATING A2SD+
THESE COMMANDS ARE WAY BACK FROYO DAYS
SEE LATEST MIUI CHANGELOG IF EVER THIS CHANGED
- get terminal from market
- Type su
- Type a2sd zipalign
- Type a2sd cachesd
- You may even need to do a2sd reinstall

Requirements:
FAT32 First partition, EXT3/4 second partition, Swap or No swap

and I don't understand what it means to have "FAT32 First partition, EXT3/4 second partition, Swap or No swap", anyone care to explain?

Look at that video, that big yellow block with the green border is the fat partition. The left hand side is the "Front" and the right is the "Back". When you resize the FAT to fit another partition behind, you must make the back smaller and fit the EXT in AFTER the FAT so from left to right, it goes FAT - EXT.

Dont bother with swap.

Okay your first partiton being fat32 IS : Primary : (being first)
your second partition being Ext3 is: Logical : (being second)

I have used 0 swap as its never caused me an issue, SWAP IS virtual memory it has its advantages but personally i don't think they are worth much when working with a mobile device because SWAP is only used if you have too much going on. And your phone needs more space to think creating virtual space, however having this space is no great deal with small processing power. Also if you have a task killer or similar that would counter the SWAP.
