ouch touchy lol.. just kidding you have done great work here lol but it was funny:)

i may try this later after the alabama/florida game is over.... isn't their a newer version in the works though?

Yes, newer version is in the works and the guy on Droidforums who released this port (Zenulator) told us yesterday during the day that he would have it out to us last night. Apparently it's been a collaborative effort between him and bgill55. It still hasn't appeared and there hasn't been a peep out of either of them all day long.

After waiting for UD9 for so long I've learned to take these types of ETAs with a grain of salt. I did ask if we would be able to install the new version (V. 3) over the current version and I was told they wouldn't know until the port was finished. So if you want to wait until the new version is released that would certainly understandable. Take it from me, even if it doesn't become your daily driver this ROM is DEFINITELY worth a flash.

EDIT: One more thing about the current version - a very small amount of the text deep within the menus hasn't been translated yet and is still in Chinese. This shouldn't affect anything but if that is going to bother you I wanted to let you know.

I've gotta back up publicanimal on his defense of this ROM...I waited until many of the bugs were worked out and decided yesterday to flash this while I waited for UD9 and LFY 1.7...At any rate, I flashed metiCkOne's version 4.3 of MIUI over a clean version of UD8 (no themes) with no wiping per public's instructions. It FCs like crazy at first, which is normal until you wipe data on the aforementioned apps...Once I did that, I've literally not had a single FC since. I installed Swype, themed it with MetaMorph and installed a new slayher kernel. Everything is fairly smooth, although I wouldn't agree for a second with some of the "this is the smoothest ROM I've ever run" thoughts I've read here and there. I had no issues with Beautiful Widgets not updated my location or temp...The principle complaint I think this ROM will have to overcome is the obvious comparison with the iPhone. It definitely looks like one and that's either okay with you or it's not.

What I like about the ROM is basically EVERYTHING is different than what you're used to with others. I think public mentioned it above, but when the screen is locked, you can long press on the text icon to preview text messages, the messaging app is boss and to be honest, it genuinely feels like a different phone. It won't replace any of your favorite ROMs right now in its alpha stage, but if you take it for what it is, it's a blast to play with while waiting on Liquid, or Blackdroid, or whomever to finish their next updates.

rom is hands down amazing and yes, the interactive governors built into it doesnt play nice with setcpu, as soon as i got rid of setcpu this thing went from awesome to truly amazing.

:D

Huh, maybe that's been my problem on Quadrant...I couldn't get scores above 1400 with slayher's 1.1 kernel...which normally produces high 15, low 1600 numbers...Thanks for the advice guys.

Are you concerned with performance or getting outrageous quadrant scores? Not the same thing. I get lower quadrant scores with this ROM compared to others, but performance is superior.

The CPU toggle on the notification panel will underclock your CPU if unlit but it sounds like you have it lit.

It's never a good sign when the OP abandons the ROM! :D :D :D

No i just picky at what roms i use , i mainly just test them doesn't mean i didn't like this rom at all. Just ment i was done testing it for now till all the kinks are fixed on it then i will test again . Now i Love Bugless Beast So that is the only reason why i went back . But i am gonna say if you are new to roms and you like uniqueness well this rom is for you its flawless and runs smooth So i would suggest anyone to get this rom if not give it a chance i had my chance and i still plan on coming back to it just atm i need my long battery life for my job so till then i wont change back so there you go .

Cool. Redraws were only a minor issue with me but I added some instructions at the end of the install guide on droidforums.net to drastically reduce redraws.

[ROM] Zen-MIUI v2 Android 2.2 + MIUI - Page 81 - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

I'd like to add the local.prop file to the update file but it's a little late for that. :)

working good man is there anyway you can give me some scripts that work in terminal emulator that works to remove apps or godmode or w/e because i don't like some apps and i want them removed
thanks
Tugdaturtle

I usually just use Root Explorer or Titanium Backup so I can do it without all the typing, but you should be able to find those scripts pretty easy if you search around... I'm about to run out the door so I can't find them right now

ROFL! What up Zen?!

Hey - do you know of a way to put the local.prop redraw fix into an update.zip or perhaps incorporate it into the build.prop?

i've never had redraw issues. for the local.prop i believe that can go in /data in an update zip or incorperated in the build.prop. if someone can link me to it it would be great or email it to jtalemal @ gmail.com

there are several people working on this rom and i noticed in the op it doesn't list them. i'm making a request to link to Zenulator - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

and post credits from my thread in your op :) i don't visit here much so it's up to you.

Performance. But pump your brakes, because you're getting ahead of yourself. I didn't make any comments about not getting good performance or lagginess or anything else. In fact, I supported you a couple posts above that people should give the ROM a chance. I always do some quick Quadrant scores when I load a new ROM, always with the same kernel and always with the same apps running just to have a personal comparison. I merely stated that I didn't get the same numbers and thought it was odd - the logic of which, I might add, is an indication that I thought the ROM ran pretty well (i.e. Why would I be surprised with a low Quadrant if it was running poorly?)...Settle down baller, I'm on your side...:)

Yeah, send a PM to tugdaturtle for that.

I added the local.prop "redraw fix" script to the end of my install guide that you linked to in your OP @ droidforums.

I was only having minimal redraws (3 seconds) max after long browser sessions, but I did notice after running the terminal script to add the local.prop into /data that my home screen would snap back up without any redraw whatsoever after heavy browser sessions.

What I don't know is if this has any consequences for battery life/performance. But it did seem to work.

LOL, sorry after writing that I realized I could've worded it a little better. I agree that it is weird that quadrant scores are lower, but I find it oddly comforting because it seems like that might keep my CPU from melting :D I know you are on my side!

Updater.apk in /system/app

It's getting busy around here! Zenulator (the dev who ported this thing to the Droid for us) wants you to link to the droidforums OP and/or include all the credits for people who are working on/helping out with this ROM.

I tried to make an update.zip to push the local.prop into /data but it didn't work. I did notice that Chevy includes that script in his build.prop files in /system.

I hate to be "that guy" but how's V3 coming?

No sweat...I figure if you're from Austin and I'm burntorangefan, then we must have something in common. I really can't wait to see where this ROM heads once it's out of alpha / beta, because it's going to have a lot to offer other devs from the standpoint of fresh ideas.

Regarding setCPU, I literally had like an 1100 and change the first time I ran it, although everything was pretty smooth so I figured something was up with setcpu...At the end of the day, I don't expect (due to all the custom stuff) that this ROM will ever be as fast as BB or Liquid, but I think it'll be silky smooth and that's enough for most of us...I'm still a loyal fan of Liquid and when 1.7 drops I'll have to give it a chance and see what he's done next...
