Root MIUI SMS/MMS Problem. Help!

TARDIS

Newbie
Hey all.

I've been using MIUI on my MT for a few months now and love it... until this week.

Text and MMS messages are now behaving poorly and erratically. Some text messages will come through, some will not, and no MMS messages are coming through. Instead of the message, I see:

Time Stamp
Message size: 1kb {DOWNLOAD NOW}
Expires: Jan 23

If I click download now, it changes to Downloading and then nothing. Goes back to the message.

MMS photos are ever worse. Get an error message saying that the download was unsuccessful and to try again.

HELP! I want to see my wife's amazing photos of our children's every day life!

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

mms messages only download over 3G, not wifi, not now, not ever.

so if you turn 3G data off you will get exactly that message.

I get that message when I have juice defender on a very aggressive profile that keeps 3G off even when MMS comes in. i have to manually turn 3g on then the mms starts downloading.

same when sending.

other than that, ive never had a problem with sms or mms, except when the network is at capacity, then my sms start coming in slow, but thats VERY rare.

I would say the shmackshmack is right, OR it is a network issue. If the same thing happens with 3g on, it is likely VM network issues.

Sounds like a great solution... but my 3G works fine for everything else.

This is a new problem and I am seeing no other behavior issues on the phone. Use 3G daily and all other apps/email work fine.

Any idea where to go next?

I've tried MIUI latest release twice now with full wipe. Both times I had problems with SMS both times. Messages would routinely not send or come in hours after they were sent. It was enough of a problem that I went back to CM7 which works great.

@TARDIS - Try doing a fresh install and see if that helps. Don't add any extra apps until you can test it out a bit.
Also, love the username!

@nickmorin99 - The radio code for both should be the same, there isn't a reason in the ROMs for that behaviour to be different between them. I don't think Isaac made any tweaks to it in MIUI, so it should not show any difference. I have seen another person claim signal differences. I wonder if it is there or if you just got unlucky with network issues (or some app issues) when you were using it.
Not trying to say you are wrong, just that the ROM shouldn't be the reason
