Root Miui UK Apps 2 SD problem

When I first rooted my phone, I created a partition of 1GB on my SD card for Apps2SD.

I've just flashed MIUI, but is saying that my SD card isn't mounted (tells me that there is 0 Apps 2 SD memory).

I've tried the commands in Terminal Emulator, but no luck so far.

Any ideas?
 
Can you access the memory card for pictures etc? how about plugging the phone into the PC. can you use it?

Just to check if the card is buggered.

Hi mate,

Yeah, I can access it for everything else, the phone says it has 3gb of memory left on it. It just seems that its not recognising the Apps2SD partition that I created before!!
 
Try the following. Start a terminal emulator, then type the commands

su
a2sd reinstall

If MIUI UK uses DarkTremor a2sd, like the last MIUI I used did, that should initialise it.

Edit: oops, just read the post again - apologies if those were the commands you'd tried!!

Has the partition worked for a2sd in other ROMs?
 
Hi, yeah, those were the 2 I tried first!

It gets to No 19, the says Problem detected: DarkTremor Apps2SD may not have ran. during boot. Cannot read a2sd.mountpoint.
Starting Darktremor in reinstall mode.
SD card not mounted.

???
 
"a2sd check" should produce a diagnostic log, which might give some clues.

Is this the first ROM you've used the partition with, or was it working previously? If this is the first, can you describe how the card is partitioned? There should be just 2 partitions, first one fat32, second ext, both primary.

The partition was set up with gparted in the way described in the 'how ti's guides.

How do I find out the types?
 
GParted can show you information about the partitions.

If you are using 4Ext Touch recovery the "Info" feature there shows the partition sizes and formats, and Tools->File System Check can check for errors, but it won't confirm whether the partitions are both primary.

Since dGB doesn't use the ext partition I can't poke around and see what it should look like so easily :(. The command "df" typed in the terminal emulator should show you the available file systems, which would let you see whether the sd-ext is mounted, but since it's the a2sd script which will mount it I think we probably know the answer to that one.

Were you using the partition with your previous ROM? If so we can assume it was set up correctly.

As far as I'm aware it was working... :-)

When I ran redux, I didn't have issues with memory...
 
Then unless the partition has been corrupted it should be OK. I suppose you could take a nandroid of your current ROM, restore your Redux nandroid, and check that it still works with Redux. That would definitively identify the problem as in the ROM, but is a hassle for probably just confirming what we suspect.

Did a2sd check tell you anything?

You could try "a2sd repair" I suppose.
 
Tries those and both said SD card not mounted.

Strange thing is Quick ahatem info shows A2Sd as around 200mb
 
Sometimes reflashing the Rom resolves script issue, if we can identify they exist.

Personally I.would use root explorer or ls in a terminal should tell what the folder structure was, looking for dalvik cache
 
Found the following in my PCs downloads:

apps_dalvik2ext-UNSIGNED

Presume this is the right thing to flash???
 
That's probably the patch to move dalvik to sd-ext when using Redux.

You could reflash the ROM without a wipe. But if you want to try just flashing DarkTremor, you can find it in the toolbox thread. The password is in post 130 (Dec 6th).
 
Right, that seems to work, but none of my apps appear to be in there.

I've tried moving 1 from the SD to the phone, but its failed due to low memory?

Realise I ask daft questions, but any ideas?
 
Thanks it seems to be working, still getting low memory warnings, but will see how it goes!!!
 
Check which apps are on the phone and which on sd. And use either Ti or Quick System Info to check how the ext partition is being used (or indeed Root Explorer, or a terminal emulator if you are happy with the linux command line :))
