Root MIUI version 2012-4-5

Well, I am giving MIUI another go. I have never really given it a fair shake, because of a few reasons, that I am beginning to get over. All in all, this version is pretty rock solid over 621 - 604 rooted. I am still having an issue with changing the text message ringtone. The feature exists for mms, but it is not even keeping the chosen ringtone for that. When I am inside the chat program, I go into settings and there should be a ringtone option but there isnt.. so far thats really my only gripe, and also Audio Manager pro does not work right.. wont slide for different volumes..

Edit.. found setting for smstext ringtones.. working fine...

I'm digging it so far.. camera and video works good, just can get buggy forsclosing, but not a lot.. and I would love a dialer that stayed in landscape during a call..I wonder if that will ever happen. Thats the one thing I liked about the stock dialer.. you had to have it in a dock or tricked with a magnet, but you could dial in landscape, and it stayed like that throughout the call.

This rom is the tits... I tried ICS V4 and no dice.. had to immediatley flash back. Half the options were gone. Everything works on this rom.. rock solid stable, and the camera and video work. I didn't think I would settle for MIUI, but after this weekend, I am sold.. awesome battery, everything. I am partial to the stock camera and landscape dialer, but for now happy without it, and if need be can flash back to 604 ms for that..I give this rom two thumbs up.. a 9 out of 10 rating.

For some reason I keep loosing my data signal with this ROM (I noticed it in the previous version too). I cant tell what's causing it or exactly when it happens. I pickup my phone to use it and i'll notice that it's searching for a GPS signal, then try to do something like Google Play Store and I get a "No Connection".
The only way I'm able to restore service is to reboot.
It seems to happen once or twice a day.

Any ideas?

By "this rom", I assume you mean MIUI.

How did you install it? (clean install, update from previous?)

Under "my locations "..what do you have checked?

If you mean what I have checked under "Location Services" in the MIUI settings menu, I have "GPS satellites" and "Location & Google search" checked. I don't see anything for "my locations".

I installed version 2.3.16_4.0 as a clean install, and just updating each version since then with a system and dalvik cache wipe before each install.

The title of this thread is the MIUI version I am talking about (MIUI version 2012-4-5).. downloaded from CWM. Not sure if you are on the same thing. I hit the home key, then hit settings, and go to personal at the top, and select My Location.... I have Use Wireless Networks selected, Use GPS Sats selected, and Automated Assisted GPS and it works rock solid.

Unless specified otherwise, they usually they recommend wiping both caches (format cache, wipe dalvik cache) when installing a rom.

You could restore the backup you made before you installed this build or reflash the previous one over this, in case that fixes it. At least that way you wouldn't lose your apps/settings.

You also could create a backup of what you have now and wipe data/caches and see if that fixes it. If not you could just restore your backup and be back to where you were at. I wiped 3 devices in 2 days.... Some builds require a wipe. MIUI 4.x over MIUI 4.x shouldn't. I've installed all the MIUI builds except this one since I upgraded to a different phone.
