Root mmap() failed. Operation not permitted

Mayhem

Android Expert
I'm trying to root using the thread over at androidpolice. When I was copying/pasting the instructions I somehow highlighted the entire page and pasted that into my cmd line. It ran through all of the text. :(

So I tried to start over and when I try adb shell again in step 3 I get a # prompt and not a $ prompt. Running /data/local/psneuter command gives me

mmap() failed. Operation not permitted

I have not tried to reboot the phone and start over. I'd rather not run the risk of bricking it. Does anyone have a solution?

The thread over there is at Updated (4/21/2011): [Exclusive] How To Root The HTC ThunderBolt And Unlock Its Bootloader | Android News, Reviews, Apps, Games, Phones, Tablets, Tips, Mods, Videos, Tutorials - Android Police

Thanks,

*sigh* I figured out what I was doing wrong.

1. I started this after midnight

2. I was trying to run a command from a different step

3. I panicked

Fortunately I managed to get through it and am in the process of downloading das BAMF 1.6 DeBloat

I'd do the Happy-Happy Joy-Joy dance if it wasn't 2:30am :D
