Help MMS pictures not downloading

does the pic even send? for me, it just sits there trying to send... no error or anything. I even left it try overnight but when I woke up, it was still trying to send it. If my wife sends me something, i get the "you have a verizon pix or flix" crap

I am glad to see that this problem isn't only happening to me.

I can send MMS fine however when i get an MMS, it says download but i click download and it goes gray then the download box will reappear

or either it will say download fail...

I have to have people email their photos to me which is a pain because ppl don't get that sending a picture from your cell to my email is the same as sending the picture from your phone to my phone
 
On VZW it happened to mine, and I did *228 option 2, then after reboot option 1, and it fixed it. Tech supports instructions..
 
I just got my Eris 2 weeks ago and love it except I too am having the same problem!!! And it is frustrating. I've been able to send pix and download some pix but not others. Tried stock program, handcent, and network is on.
Anyone have any other suggested help? Oh and save mms downloaded and didn't work.
May have to visit verizon tomorrow. I send and recieve pix ALL the time and this not working will be unacceptable to me :-(
 
Same problem here. I'm not doing a factory reset, I've done one already and I'm not re-doing my scenes AGAIN.
 
kar0la420: I mentioned in my first post that network was on. I read enough here to troubleshoot that much. Thanks for the tip tho ;-)
Update: just spent 45 min at a verizon store the guy had to get on the phone with a tech but the end result was a hard reset. Sucks but oh well a small price to pay to get my photos.
The guy said to be careful what apps you download cuz that can sometimes be the trigger. Guess my lookout security didn't catch it.

It's embarrassing showing off your "smartphone" to someone and have them send you a picture or video message that it can't open as easily as a friggin ten-dollar no-frills metro pcs phone...
 
i tried the *228 option 2 then 1 and it worked for 1 MMS, then the others that i had not been able to get would not download....weird.
 
Same story here...I have tried ALL of the above fixes and nothing works. It happened to my 1st Eris after about 5 weeks. They gave me a new one and now at about the same timing its happened again. It is so frustrating. Sometimes, instead of the current pic coming thru an mms msg forces an old unreceived one thru! Sometimes im not even notified that an mms is trying to come thru, and more times than anything it just wont download. Verizon and HTC claim they have not had ANY complaints on this issue which i find hard to believe. I have spent probably a total of 30 hours dealing with this between researching, dling new apps to try to help, deleting apps, at the store, on the phone w them, doing hard resets and then adding everything back...! Today, i am printing this thread and bringing it to verizon! I dont see a fix for the issue tho unfortunately. My old flip phones got every message always.
 
Hey jusdebbie let us know what they say. When I called and when I went into the store they told me the same thing... they said they havent heard of this complaint before, so I mentioned this forum and their response was pretty much "oh you can't always believe what you read in those places" lol. They ended up giving me a new phone since they couldn't figure it out.
 
I'm wondering if this problem is network related and not phone releated. If reprogramming your phone makes can fix it, I'm almost positive there is something wrong in the system. I personally have never had this problem.

On a side note. Alot of people think hard resets are what fixes phone problems, but in actuallity its the reprogramming of the phone you do afterward that fixes it.
 
try this...
on the phone from the home screen go hit the "menu" button and choose "settings"
go to "applications" and choose "manage applications"
after the green circle at the top right corner stops spinning, and all the "computing" stuff goes away, select "messages"
then push the button marked "clear data" (click ok, it wont delete anything. i just did it on mine to check)

then try it

let me know if it worked.
 
JReed, they tried reprogramming me to a different phone and then reprogramming me back to my phone and that didnt work.

Tcbj, tried your suggestion and it didnt work unfortunately.

I went to Verizon yet once again and they now have "opened a ticket" on the account. I guess this means they research everything having to do with my service from the towers to the signals to the communication and so on. From this if they find nothing i will do another hard reset (which i so dont want to do). If it starts yet once again, which is has before, they will then issue me a new number. They claim that sometimes a number can have some quirks to it. I dont really get that as ive had this number for close to 20 years and NEVER had a problem prior to Novermber when i got the eris!
 
I'm having the same problem. Got a few just fine over the weekend but now, not so much. Obviously there is a bigger issue here.
 
phew - im glad this isn't only me. it sucks because im away at college and all my best friends are back home trying to send me pics and stuff and i can't get 90% of them. just says 'download failed'.. i've used chomp, handscent, and the native app - all do the same thing. i know a verizon rep that owns a droid eris and she is frustrated too because even she can't download mms messages... im using a regular droid btw but this is a all around problem ;\ can't believe it STILL doesn't work. i've just been waiting patiently for a patch or something. :( ah, guess i won't see my friends for awhile.
 
I too am having the same issue. It's quite frustrating when I get an MMS pic message from a friend and then they get aggravated because I never respond. Every now and then out of the blue an old MMS will come through, usually a few days later. I love this phone, but this is a big issue that needs to be addressed.
 
Add me to the list. Just started this morning, or maybe yesterday. Hard to tell considering some of the time I get nothing when someone sends a pic. Had a bunch of friends send some today and out of the ones I get, I push "download" and I immediately get a notification that the download failed. I dread calling Verizon support, I may as well talk to the wall.
