MMS Problems

Hope somebody can help. Up until recently when I sent a picture message it just sent. My phone would turn on data for a few seconds then turn off. The same would happen when I received pics. Now when I try to send a pic I have to manually turn on data and when I receive a pic, I get a message to download pic and have to manually turn on data. I am on XWLPI Neat rom lite. My partner has the same phone on stock Orange ICS and hers works fine. Does anybody know how to solve this?

I would hazard a guess that it is to do with the ROM you have on your phone. I am sure that someone would be able to confirm though
