Mobile Burn Review

I'm glad he said he was able to get used to the keyboard and that he likes it.

As for the picture quality, I wish there was a way to completely turn auto focus off. In many of the Sprint Hero reviews and threads here on the forum that I've read, it seems if you turn auto focus off you get much better picture quality and would think that the same would go for the Droid.

maybe the Snap Photo app will allow for better pictures, I know the quality between the stock photo app and snap photo on my mytouch 3g is night and day.

So there's camera apps you can download?

good to know....

Yes there are multiple camera apps available and one of the benefits of android is that if you find a camera app you like, you can set it as the default camera. So whenever you press the camera button on the side of the phone it will use your chosen camera app. I just wish snap photo had video capabilities also.

Are you able to set it so that the standard video ap is set for video recording and a 3rd party ap is set for the camera ap?

I ask because reviews are saying that the video that is taken looks great, its just the still pictures that tend to not work well. If the 3rd party camera ap takes great pictures, but has no video player, would be nice to just use the standard video camera instead since it works well out of the box.

did anyone notice that when he was trying to take the pic and the camera wouldn't focus he was in macro mode...and several feet away??? isn't macro for extreme close up pics?

One of my favorite reviews so far....I don't understand why the Video Recorder can be so good but the Camera is horrible.

This may be a stupid question but are there any third-party camera apps in the Android Marketplace?

Yup - I have a feeling some of the negative camera reviews are about not checking settings, odd default settings, etc.

because, as stated several times in many various reviews, the camera issues are software. Buy the phone, download a new camera app, and viola... perfection.

Same here. I played with a floor "fake" model today at Best Buy. It just had a picture pasted into the display. I fear that the keyboard on that was what the real keyboard will feel like. I hated it. I suppose I could get used to it, but it really was an unpleasant experience trying to type. Then again, it wasn't a "real" phone and it wasn't turned on, so I don't know how the entire experience would have been.

We'll find out on Monday when my new Droid arrives.

I did the same thing at my Best Buy and I almost didn't put the money down on it if that was how the keyboard was going to feel. The reviews I've read today from Mobile Burn, Gizmodo, Phandroid and Boy Genius make me really happy I did. I knew that couldn't be how it was going to feel.

That better not be how the real keyboard feels or I'm going to be really disappointed. It felt horrible. Not just "eh, I could get used to it" bad, but really "I'd hate to use this everyday" bad.
