The A500 has a one of a kind power plug. Nut available any place but Acer. When I first got mine I called acer and told them I was having problems with thee charger and they sent me a replacement free. I cut the end off and went to Radio Shach and bought a regulated lighter plug that was 12 volt 2 amps. Soldered them together and works great. I even got to make the cord longer so it would be a bit more useable. I use my tablet for the GPS. I use ALK Co Pilot amd works great. When I first set it up the ALK wasn't copatable but after the 3.2 update it works btter than the laptop version. Hope this helps you.
Acer doesn't have an official car charger in the U.S.
You could get into the project work as noted or you could just buy a car charger with multiple heads off Amazon that would work fine?
Something like this has been suggested, at least on XDA's A500 forums.
Acer Tablet Forums had a discussion on car chargers and had at least a couple choices for chargers. There was also the choice of just using an inverter with your regular power cable.
