Help Mobile Data not activating without restart

In recent months, since the last Kit Kat update I think, whenever I select mobile data on it does not activate.

I always have to do a restart and the phone restarts with mobile data running.

Anyone else experienced this?

I just noticed this yesterday. I have no explanation since I never fiddle around with the mobile data settings. For some reason, it was set to "global" as the preferred network, instead of CDMA/LTE/EVDO which I assume is correct for Verizon. Rebooted, now connected properly.
