Mobile data not working = Wicked Root software

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 used. The previous owner rooted the phone with wicked3 rooting software, so he could use the phone on T-Mobile service. It is a AT&T phone, and I am on AT&T service. The phone and WiFi works, but the mobile data does not work. Mobile data is turned on in the phone, and AT&T has upgraded my account to LTE and added the phone to my account. I have tried a hard reset. After talking to AT&T and Samsung, they both said to re-flash the phone software back to original, and the rooting software could be the cause of this problem.

Are they saying this because they don't understand the actual problem and blaming it on the foreign software?

Id flash the at&t stock firmware tbh or an at&t rom  maybe even an at&t modem/radio firmware(?)

i agree with funky; read up on it, and flash yourself a new factory RUU. it's not hard, and factory RUUs are able to get OTA updates from your carrier. you'll lose root, though, so if that's something you want to keep, and you still want to be stock, grab a stock kernel, a stock radio, and a custom rooted stock ROM.

or, alternatively, flash the factory RUU, and then go about rooting it yourself with CF's root tool (i think that's the one, been a while since i rooted a sammy device). this will block most OTA updates, though, be aware of that.
