Help mobile network auto cdma

ok just going to settings and wireless networks until i see mobile networks click it and it says system select so i click auto now when i use the web it feels faster like real 3g not 2.5g so is this normal to happen when you do it or can this ruin my phone so can you just help me out here
should i stick to auto or go back to metropcs mode

I leave mine on Automatic all the time. No issues here.

ok i did my own speed test when i type in 3g is fast on the internet in metropcs mode it took 26.66 seconds on auto mode it took 12.93 seconds
so i will say on auto mode thanks skaterneko

did another speed test typed in 3g is fast it took 7.71 seconds on auto mode
