I am guessing that you are using a lollipop rom? I noticed this too but only on the lollipop roms. I think it might be why media volume is louder on the stock rom.My values are different on speaker... mine says dir speaker value is 64.. but the rx digital values are 84.. and dont match speaker value.. ? Any one else have the same with 64 for speaker and 84 for all four rx digital values?
I am actually on stock rom using the butter kat kernel with your updated switch-restore... didnt want to change values to same values due to the 20 point differenceI am guessing that you are using a lollipop rom? No, when it says "Android is upgrading", that means that a new app has been added to /system (in this case it would be SuperSU) and the phone is extracting the classes.dex from inside the apk and copying it to /data/dalvik-cache.I was on dolby movie profile.. switched that around thinking it would raise values but it's still the same 64 speaker 84 digital.. when I rooted and got su installed it said that android was performing an update.. wonder if that had something to do with it..
Ahhh.. ok.. would it hurt to change the 64 value to 84 on the speaker setting? Because I have other values set at 64 also like headphone settings and I wasnt sure if those settings require other values to be changed as .. I guess I could test it and switch back if it causes problems... about deleting the dolby stuff..I guess dolby is just an added enhancement that is not required for audio.. mostly any changes I make using it sounds like crapNo, when it says "Android is upgrading", that means that a new app has been added to /system (in this case it would be SuperSU) and the phone is extracting the classes.dex from inside the apk and copying it to /data/dalvik-cache.
This had no effect on the mixer-paths.xml file in this mod.
MANUAL CHANGE:
1. GO TO /SYSTEM/ETC AND LOCATION MIXER_PATHS.XML
2. OPEN FILE USING A TEXT EDITOR OR DOWNLOAD AN XML EDITOR FROM THE PLAY STORE.
3. SCROLL DOWN CLOSE TO THE BOTTOM AND LOOK FOR <PATH NAME="SPEAKER">
4. BELOW IT YOU WILL SEE THIS LINE:
<ctl name="RX3 Digital Volume" value="84" />
5. CHANGE VALUE FROM "84" TO WHATEVER YOU WANT, I RECOMMEND 90 - 95.
6. SCROLL TO THE VERY TOP OF THE SCRIPT AND FIND:
<ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value="84" />
<ctl name="RX2 Digital Volume" value="84" />
<ctl name="RX3 Digital Volume" value="84" />
<ctl name="RX4 Digital Volume" value="84" />
7. CHANGE ALL OF THESE VALUES TO THE SAME VALUE YOU SET AT BELOW.
8. SAVE CHANGES AND REBOOT.
9. ENJOY!
My speaker was also 64, I changed all the values for speaker to 92 and I've had no issues. Pretty sure the metro version starts at 64, hence the complaints about the speakers. Just my two cents.if your values don't match don't try changing them it won't work you will get no sound whatsoever out of your speaker... my speaker was 64.. and other values were 84 so I raised value to 84 and no sound at all.. maybe if you adjust all values by ten.. 64 to 74 and 84 to 94 maybe..not sure yet
you changed all values to 92? I'm going to try that... Also did you delete dolby files? Im going to re try it and change all values rather than only raising speaker to 84 to match the four levels.. hope it works.. speakerphone is kind of hard to hear while driving and using speaker to take phone calls. And thanks.. I've been wondering if it was just me on stock metro that was having this problem.. alot of others have different roms not the metro stock rom rootedMy speaker was also 64, I changed all the values for speaker to 92 and I've had no issues. I have done this on both stock Metro and CM 12.1 RD5(which I'm currently using). And yes all I modified 5 values in total. At the top of the files I edited the values of rx1-4 to 92 and rx3 under path-speaker to 92. Speaker phone, external speakers and headphone are all smooth after this change. Hope this helps bud.you changed all values to 92? I'm going to try that... Also did you delete dolby files? Is there any way to adjust the mic volume to make it louder? When I record videos the sound level is really low when I go to watch it. Any help would be great!*****WARNING: THIS WORKS FOR SOME AND DOESN'T WORK FOR OTHERS FOR SOME REASON, MAKE A BACKUP FIRST BEFORE DOING ANYTHING******
*****WARNING #2: THIS XML FILE WAS PULLED FROM THE METRO 4.4.4 VERSION OF THE PHONE, I'M NOT SURE IF THIS WILL WORK ON THE 4.4.2 TMO VERSION, IF IT DOES FOR ANYONE, LET ME KNOW******
If any of you are like me you reeeeeally hate how low the volume on the phone speaker is, this is a mod to help remedy that and raise the max volume on the phone.
STEPS:
1. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FULL R/W ABILITY
2. NAVIGATE TO /SYSTEM/ETC AND LOCATE THE MIXER_PATHS.XML FILE.
3. COPY THE ORIGINAL AND SAVE ON YOUR SD CARD.
4. DOWNLOAD THE MODIFIED MIXER_PATHS.XML FILE HERE OR IF YOU'D LIKE TO DO IT MANUALLY SCROLL DOWN FOR INSTRUCTIONS.
5. PASTE THE XML FILE IN THE SAME /SYSTEM/ETC FOLDER AND FIX PERMISSIONS TO RW-R--R--
6. GO TO /VENDOR/APP AND DELETE ALL DOLBY FILES.
7. REBOOT PHONE AND YOU SHOULD NOTICE MUCH LOUDER VOLUME OUT OF YOUR SPEAKER!
8. ENJOY!

Just remember playing anything on the phone speaker at super loud volume may blow the speaker so be smart with you volume control.
What exactly does that mean? I'm kinda versed in root /Tech lingo, but i don't know how everything works, lol...Bluetooth is limited by the device itself.
the actual XML file is pretty big but while scrolling through it I did see a few sections relating to bluetooth...just make a backup of the file.. I was messing around with it and ended up with no sound at all... maybe someone else will know which other fields are linked to bluetooth volume... if not here then on xda forums..Maybe, but i was asking what the paths for Bluetooth are.
I won't lie, I'm a knucklehead, i learn everything the hard way.
Thanks, man.
