Yes in CWR. As long as you are on .596 you should be good, how you got there is irrelevant

Yes D2 bootstrapper. The DX bootstrapper works too, but you have to uncheck USB Debugging.....D2 boostrapper works with USB debugging checked, so I recommend D2 bootstrapper to anyone that asks.

What date? There is no date in the status bar.

There is for me. When I slide the status bar down (notification bar) it shows the date in the top left.
