Modaco 2.2 anyone?

Yep there is also espresso blue full but i don't know what that is. Make sure to nandroid backup and let me know i used this one instead Hero Mods, Themes, APK's, Fonts, Lockscreens, Taskbars - xda-developers fade out home button.

if my internet usage is below my 30-day limit, i'll probably download most of them and play around with them....stupid satellite internet F.A.P. I want unlimited downloads when I've got to deal with such slow speeds this time of day lol

Hehe oh yeah i know all about Satellite internet all too well. All i got to say is northeast wisconsin:(. Now i rock a 50 down download and 30 up. Oh city life i love it.

ooo, the espresso blue full looks pretty neat. Makes the taskbar and notification pane have a blue tint, as well as the battery meter blue. And all the button presses are blue instead of green...except for in settings. I like it

All you need is the 2.1 icons and maybe change that signature to Modaco and throw away flipper rom forever.

I want to hate you for saying flipper's kitchen but i love that your using it on another rom hehe. I feel all better now.

well I can't afford Modaco's right now. Job market's a bit slim here

and sadly, not everything from flipz's kitchen works on modaco roms. can't pull/uninstall stock apps with it

I've noticed that my IM hasn't closed itself in the background since 2.2. It must be the compcache enabled? I used to be on the browser with music streaming through bluetooth on stock media player or one of the many streaming apps I have, and IM couldn't stay open in the background. Hasn't closed once with 2.2!

For the Modaco 2.2 users...how is your uptime?

I'm at 47% awake time. 7:17 awake out of 15:32 up. But my battery is at 92% after taking it off the charger 7 hours ago and pretty much not using it at all.

I charge it with my computer, so I don't know if that keeps it from sleeping or not (I've read some places that it doesn't sleep on the computer).

I would have restarted it for the last time at about 9:30 last night, and probably plugged it in about that time as well, since I went to bed at about 9:30. Unplugged it this morning at 5, and it's been off the charger ever since. Certainly looks like it doesn't sleep when connected to the computer, which would explain my awake time. Either that, or it only sleeps when connected to the computer lol. Pretty sure that's not right, since I wouldn't be at 92% battery after 7 hours of being awake and off the charger, and it's been almost entirely idle in that 7 hours.

In other words, I'd say that Modaco2.2 does great with uptime, assuming that charging with the computer keeps the phone awake.

Having it plugged into the PC does indeed keep it from sleeping...my normal wake time is 10-15% but when on the PC it skyrockets. Also, I found that going into Spare Parts and setting animation speeds to Fast makes things feel faster. I also enabled Compcache and that seems to help a little. Next thing I'm going to do is get a class 6 SD card...I'm hearing that it makes quite a difference in speed since many apps write and read from the SD card.

Today as an experiment I ran the stock RUU and flashed Modaco 2.2. I played with it for an hour.

It does not feel, look or act any faster than my fresh 1.1 install. Keep in mind I had no apps installed and have approx 30 installed on my fresh with all sorts of widgets and apps running.

I restored my fresh 1.1 nandroid backup and it's all good again.

I think this just shows that peformance is not necessarily improved through specific roms but more so that a good rom is just as snappy as the next and it really boils down to your own tweaks and maintenance.

You played with it for an hour. Well that test is all i needed to come to a conclusion thanks for your testing. Did you test it with compcache or all the sprint bloatware removed. The only thing you tested was your a fresh fan i understand he makes nice cute roms. If this was maybe a three day test i would understand but one hour is not a test and nobody here can come with a conclusion. I still think Modaco rom is better then Fresh's but that again its a matter of preference and i really don't like flipper.

The things are so customizable that I honestly don't notice much difference between the two once you make them look the same. I don't see much difference in speed changes, but I haven't done anything with "compcache".

What exactly is compcache? lol

Compcache compresses the ram on the phone, thus giving you more ram and from what I have read, can improve performance.

I have also read that performance will drastically decrease as you add applications. I have about 40 apps or so, so I am not going to enable it.

Bye to everyone i got an Iphone SUCKERS. Just messing i wuv my android and i have like not kidding five apps soo im good with compcache and Tatonka if you dont notice the difference the stick with Modaco so we can support his work cus he works faster then you know who.

lol, you sure have hatred for Flipz. Why no love?

Personally, I couldn't care less which one I use if they both perform the same for me. Heck, I use Flipz' kitchen to push things through, when it works to do so anyway (and it works great for putting themes and things on). I tend to mess with my phone in spurts. Today, I pretty much haven't touched the thing. Yesterday, I was changing things left and right. Tomorrow, who knows lol. I haven't flashed back to Fresh1.1 because I haven't found a reason to, since I have Modaco2.2 running basically the same, and even looking the same. If something new comes out, I'll probably try it, and if it's better, use it. If not, I'll flash back to whatever trips my trigger at the time.

I'm glad they're both doing the work that I don't know how to do (I certainly wish I did). I'm also glad there's other guys doing similar work for us, and I support them all.

All i read was blah blah blah i love FRESH hehe jk. I hated flipper when he came down on Modaco about a rom that he was just letting us know premium users that there is a beta and he wanted us to try it out before its release. He was crying oh your all about money blah blah blah and this is about open source blah but it was beta not official. Less then a week he released the rom and now 2.2. It was for beta tester and like any beta has lots of problems and i found myself hitting my head against a wall. But after all that he released it for FREE duh and since then i hate filpper and to be honest he should respect Modaco since he took his work in the beginning and wouldn't be surprise if he looked into his kernel. Modaco made flipper

OK, Loaded this back up. Did not turn on compcache.
Clear widgets
Espresso blue
clear lock
Flipz taskbar
Faded rosie

This is fast. Really fast, like wow fast. I was going to do a full wipe and start from scratch just to make sure it was as clean as I wanted, but damn this is impressive.

You said before it was chugging. Are you pulling my leg please tell me its true please. I like it and hopefully he will have a full running 2.1 soon

Quick question. How do you clear the lock screen. I flashed the clear lock zip but it keeps the background. How can I get rid of that background so that I can see my homescreen even when it is locked? Thanks

Reasons I prefer modaco 2.2 over fresh:

1. Compcache. My IM app has never stayed open with any ROM.... until now.

2. The ad-free web browsing caused problems when viewing some sites with ads between posts.

3. A Online Radio app doesn't work with fresh. I need that for some local stations that none of the other streaming apps pull.
