so when i try to download it, when i restarted the download with 56 mb left, i find that half way through, it stops. So i cancel the download. Later when i try to download it by clicking on the app, all i get is a black screen.

If the game is a gameloft game where it ask you to download via wifi and that black screen appears press he home button several times until it takes you back to the home screen. Reboot your phone, then redownload the game, thats an error that happens for some odd reason from the gameloft server . This may happen once in a blue moon since gameloft is having issues with their servers at the moment.
