Root Moonshine s-off for k2_cl [BOOST]

I need help to make it S-OFF

You must be running ICS.

Make sure you have removed HTC sync from you computer. Also, make sure USB debugging is enabled in developer settings on your phone.

If you have HTC sync, make sure that you reboot the pc and the phone so that everything is reset and the files are completely removed from the pc.

Unzip the Moonshine zip that you downloaded and place it in a folder. With your phone fully booted, plug in USB and connect to pc. Click on the distiller and follow the prompts. Also, make sure you have a good charge on your phone because it'll take it between 5 and 10 minutes.

Also, if you are running a custom kernel, you will need to reinstall it after you have finished with Moonshine.

Edit: disable anti-virus and run the distiller as administrator.

Hope this helps.

It might also help if you run it as an administrator. It didn't work for me until I did that.

He also may want to disable the anti-virus.

I didn't have to run as administrator. Funny how some don't and some do. Good point.

I added that to the instructions. Thanks.

Nope this is a new method for radio soff. It doesn't use super Cid... Btw don't test any wild ideas just because you can you will brick

Alright, so I'm new to HTC devices, but not custom roms and such. I'm currently on 4.1.2, if I downgrade back, use moonshine for s-off, then flash 4.1.2 again, will s-off keep? Or do I need to stay on 4.0.4 for S-off at this point?

Still cant get it to work for me. Must be cause im on Windows 8.

UPDATE: Ran it on my sons laptop which runs windows 7. SUCCESS.

I managed to get it working on my Windows 8.

Did you install the universal naked drivers? It's amazing and it installs everything you need without having to download a bunch of different things. I'm not sure what you did, so I'm just going to post everything that I did. Hopefully it helps...

I placed the moonshine stuff in my C: drive. I don't have an antivirus program (I'm usually on my mac side), so I didn't need to disable it or anything. Then I connected my phone (it has to be on) to my computer and ran the distiller.exe with admin. privileges. It takes about 5 minutes to do everything. And in the meantime, DO NOT touch it.

Again, I really hope that that helps. And I don't mean to offend you or anything if you already did all of that.

I wasn't able to do s-off because my device isn't showing up.

You have to enable usb debugging... If you dont know adb and fastboot and all the things about them, you really shouldn't be doing this. It would be dangerous for users who do not yet have the knowledge of adb.

It already is on and I'm no stranger to doing it. I've rooted and had custom roms on lots of other phones.

I don't want to seem rude in saying this but do people generally assume everyone is a noob on here?

We don't know how experienced others are when it comes to these things. So a lot of times, we might give you more information than needed or may just tell you to not do something, to avoid bricking your phone. We're just trying to be as supportive as possible, though I can see how some might find it insulting.

I understand that.

Well if you have adb enabled, drivers installed, and phone on then what I'm going to tell you is to grab a live Linux distribution like tiny core and run it NATIVE NO Virtual. If your not willing to do that I can't help you any more then that

Excellent. Glad it worked for you. :D

Previous to this phone I had flashed an evo 3d to boost but getting s-off was a pain and would have wiped my boost settings so never did it. Before that I had a couple evo 4g's and those had s-off before I flashed them to boost. Just happy to have a good official boost phone lol.

Use whatever Linux your comfortable. If you read the site instructions, you see to use sudo on distiller. Use that or root
