I posted about something like this yesterday but edited my post. I mentioned something about what if current phone apps just needed to get updated to be compatible with tablets, but edited the post cuz it sounded crazy.

I didnt know how close to the truth I was...

I think Andy Rubin first mentioned this in early December at All Things D , where he whipped out the XOOM. He spoke for a bit about how fragments would allow all apps to use code to display differently on phones vs tablets. Nice to have the compatibility, but hopefully more devs will take the time to not just add the line or 2 of code for compatibility, but take the time to actually optimize the tablet fragment part of their apps to allow a great tablet experience (as opposed to just a compatible experience).
