Hello everyone,

What do other S2 owners think about their phone's battery life? Before buying mine, I had read raving reviews about the battery life of this device, however mine barely gets me through the day, if I use it a bit more intensely. During the course of a typical day, I will have probably used a bit out of most features of the phone (calling/texting, network data, WiFi data, calendar, music, GPS, occasionally the camera), which I would say is not atypical for a smartphone user. With such a usage, if I start the day with a 100% battery, the phone will typically be dead by the start of the evening, which I am not impressed with at all.

I bought my phone slightly used, and it might be that the previous owner used to connect/disconnect the charger quite often, which effectively kills battery life. I am wondering therefore if what I describe above is typical of other S2 phones as well, or whether mine's battery is likely to be a bit on the worn side

Some of the things I do to get more out my battery throughout a day:
- turn WiFi and Bluetooth off when I'm not using them, to keep the phone from constantly trying to find networks or other devices
- put it in Flight mode when I go through areas with no/low mobile reception
- set my screen's time-out to the minimum possible time (15 seconds), and the brightness to Automatic
- (I never turn off the GPS, as there is no hidden activity there: I can see exactly when this is in use, which is when I start up Google Maps or another app that needs localisation)

Any views on whether this is normal or not, as well as more tips to improve battery life for this phone, would be really appreciated!

I also created a poll in case anyone cares to share their experience of how long their S2's battery lasts for.

Many thanks in advance!

by the next day's noon-afternoon the option the fits mine :)
when i bought it i thought it wouldn't last as much.
i try to turn off bluetooth and wifi when not in use, but also gps - unlike you - just in case.
im usually on pretty low brightness, but the screen time-out is 1min, because i hate it when its less.
i don't widgets that refresh themselves, but only when i click them, and i don't use live wallpapers..

Middle of the next day. It's not as good as it was when I first got it, but that WAS six months ago afterall.

The battery life is questionable but to be fair my phone hasn't gone completely flat yet while I've been out and about.

After 6 hours in standby my phone looses 14% charge overnight. But I also had emails pushed to my phone and app updates and text messages. Oh and the alarm activated 3 times too.

turn off anything that auto sync.

Set updates to weather etc to 6 hours min.

Manually check emails or set it to every hour or 2.

Make sure wifi locators aren't on all the time in the background.

Check your running tasks to see whats going on and adjust as necessary.

Job done.

Once I've had a full charge I don't tend to use it a lot at work so by the time I get home at 9:30pm I can leave until to the next morning but if I start using a lot of apps it dies quick.
