Root More Undervolting

Well I am running Kingdom_Fastkernel-Ics_V5 but still want to get better Battery Life. So working on finding the limits of the voltage that is still stable for my phone. Mostly just for the 245mhz and 768mhz since my phone is almost always at thoes settings. By using setcpu i limit the programs that dont need the full speed to run smoothly down to 768mhz. Seams to work well and save battery life. I am Using mcTweaker to adjust the voltages since for some reason voltages dont show up in setcup (any way to make that work?)

Anyways I have been working my way down and no problems yet but is their a way to have a read out for your current voltage?

Ok... guess not many people interested in more Undervolting. After some work(still doing more) I was able to find that it seams to not allow lower then 750mv every time i set to lower it will say it saved then go back to 750mv. But still that is alot lower then stock! at 246mhz stock is 950mv 2fasts runs at 925 but I was able to get my phone stable to 750mv and have noticed a rather decent gain in standby battery life. I was also able to get my 768mhz setting alot lower also, Was able to get it to run at 850mv stable any lower and its unstable. (I use benchmarks and stablity test to make sure its stable plus just using it).

Warning: YOU MUST BACKUP AND I WOULD RECOMMEND RECORDING YOUR WORKING SETTINGS. As when I lowered the 768mhz i got boot loop. But was able to use backup to restore. And what my settings that work could be way different as every CPU is different!!!! So please dont get this program change the settings to mine and just hope that will work for you!!! I was very conservative with chaning settings for what it is booted at 1.4ghz for this kernel. For my phone about 80% of the time its at either 245 or 768 so I didnt try much with higher mhz settings voltage. You can use that program to see what mhz and what % it runs at each mhz.

You need to refer to the thread for the kernel as there is how to in it to pull the voltages or set them in the 2nd post. As for lower the volts I doubt you get much below a 50mv drop with out reboot issues. The voltages are already undervolted some but not to the max for the stability reasons. Now as for the voltage settings, I assume it should work with the newest versions of setcpu if not I would have to look at how it is used.

From everything I can tell I am running much lower then 50mv under... I used CurrentWidget and when I change the Mv it changes with it like you would expect, plus the what seams to be noticeably longer battery life (that's hard to say since don't always use it in the same way). For Now I will assume that CurrentWidget and mcTweaker are working correctly. And reporting correct numbers. I would guess mcTweaker maybe makes a script of some sort to set on reboot, as they seam to stick after rebooting.

It doesn't work with the newest version of setcpu (at lest for me). If you could look into this that would be awesome! Thanks for everything Love your Kernel. Really best mod I have done.

On a side note mcTweaker has alot of settings could mess your phone up so backup plus dont mess with settings you dont know, and even if you do may have problems!

SetCPU has never supported VDD interface support. That's why I personally used Antutu CPU Master PRO. As that app does.

CPU usage will be determined by 3 factors 1.Governor 2.Clock table 3.Voltage.

Battery life is so hard to measure. Individuals use their phone for different things throughout the day, as well as different ROMs which will have a impact on battery life.

The writeup at the beggining of the thread shows you how to look at the current vdd settings in the system. I doubt the app makes a script. Probably sets back on boot the settings. A script would be in /etc/init.d and not all boot.img has init.d support.

OK Well I wont worry about using SetCPU for setting voltages, mcTweaker is working ok for me.

I know what you mean its really hard to determen battery usage, but as far as I can tell i lose battery alot slower now, but could be other reasons for that like uninstall a program or something. Also playing with the curent amp program the backlit made as much differance as the cpu. So if its a darker day or more bright can really depened alot on battery life. But I do know if you use less voltage it will reduce the power used (amps) So weather its a big gain or not is very hard to tell, but Every little bit can help right? (of course reducing 200mv at idle is actualy alot, I have been very impressed with this CPU made for 1.2ghz but mine can run stable at 1.9ghz, and run much under volt at 268mhz. Of course depends on luck of the draw for the hardware.

For me I dont mind the battery going down pretty fast if I am using it alot, but hate to almost not use it and use lots of battery, really annoying for me. The Higher Mhz settings I hardly adjusted the mv at all. Most apps will run perfectly at 768mhz for me so no need for the ablity to run higher and setcpu lets me do that.
