Most web pages aren't loading

I am at my wits end with this....

I was running a stock rooted setup. The only thing I have done is used tethering and I keep the usage down (under 30mb of data usage).

Today my phone is acting like it is having trouble connecting to anything. Some apps (like speed test) and some web pages load ok, others refuse to do anything (like the Ebay app, or Androidforums).

We have 3 VM phones in the house, the other two load all those apps and web pages perfectly fine, no trouble at all.

So I clear all my data, no help. I clear the system caches, no help. I updated profile and PRL, no help. I did ##clear## and reset, no help. I did a factory reset, no help.

Then I called the black hole that is customer service. I finally got the tech support to recycle my account since this is obviously something on the account side blocking me.... no help. She says in order to do anything else they have to wait 24 hours... typical VM useless response. Battery pulls and more system resets do not help.

Anyone run into this issue? As an example Google will load fine and do searches just fine, but then clicking on 9/10 of the results it starts the loading bar, it never moves, then just stops and goes to a blank white page.

At this point I am back to a complete stock reset, exact same issue.

try wifi.

at least than you pinpoint the issue to being the mobile data network or the phone itself.

if it does the same on wifi, its your phone.

if it works on wifi, its most likely a network data issue and could be resolved in a day or so. sometimes they block web traffic while they upgrade a component or something random like that.

if you dont test and narrow the possibilities, all you will be doing is guessing at it all day long, and that doesn't solve anything for anyone.

Forgot to say, wifi works fine.

It is not a simple network issue since the two other VM phones on the same data plans can get to all those sites fine as well.

I also went ahead and installed superuser and tethered to my tablet and the data stops at exactly the same point... it is something specific to my account.

It is also not local, this was over about 8 towers in a 100 mile trip I made this morning.

That is why I was asking if anyone had seen this issue.

Also, the American escalation team now refuses to help in a technical manner for VM.... it is the idiot Indian team or nothing at all.

Got a call back from VM's executive service. He said that he forwarded the info over to the VM tech support for review.

And ta-da, shortly after my phone went dead (service), I redid activation and everything is working again.

So at least this can stay for reference if anyone has the issue. If VM tech support (their second level support) is not fixing it for you then find the executive support number and they can light a fire under someone to get your account corrected.

good to know.

well at least you tested every other possible conclusion before realizing it truly was the account. thats important.

however unlikely it seemed to be, it was the only possibility left. and thus it was true.

if more people followed that simple troubleshooting pattern the world would be a totally different place.
