Help Motion 4G Internal Date Issue

Lurker
I have a real perplexing issue with my Motion right now. I am living in France for a year with no income as a volunteer english teacher, so I decided not to get a new phone and plan and instead brought my Motion overseas with me and used it on Wifi for my daily needs as both a phone and a computer. This was working fine until today. I swapped out my standard battery for my extended one that I bring with me everywhere as a backup, and upon bootup, my phone's internal clock reverted to the date and time it was last connected to a CDMA network, that being August 29th at around 1 PM. Besides annoying, this has actually crippled most of my phone's functionality, as now many websites refuse access because of an expired certificate. Things like Gmail, Youtube, Google Maps, Google Search, and the Play Store will no longer load for me. I've seen some date and time solutions out there for the Motion, but I have two major obstacles to that right now. One is that the school that I am volunteering at has computers, but they are all Linux, so I can't root my phone, and the other is that I now have no access to Google Play, so I can't download a clock alteration app like clocksync. Anyone have any suggestions to help me out, or at least some kind words to lighten my spirits in the face of an unsolvable situation?

Thanks

have you turned on wifi yet? it may automatically update.
being i doubt you have metro over there wifi is your only chance.
i assume you are on a stock rom

Yeah, I rebooted the phone with wifi on and within the radius of a signal that it would automatically connect to while still booting, and still no dice. Yes, everything is stock.

i have a similar issue. i use my phone on wifi only. the clock loses time after a power off or reboot.normally it will connect to a metro tower and sync time upon a bootup.
i dont have metro service but it will connect to towers
, i need to connect to a cell tower or wifi for a few seconds and sync time.
Which is nice because my my time goes to 1970
I can also manually reset it . I use the CyanogenMod. Seems run better for me. And easier to customize settings.

Early this morning, on a hunch I turned the phone off, pulled my old Metro PCS SIM card out, and turned the phone back on. As soon as it connected to Wifi, the date and time synced correctly! It's still stuck on California time, but at least my phone's date is in accordance with the rest of the internet now.
