Motion $50 again

I've always heard if you buy a phone in store they make you activate it. That theoretically prevents someone from buying to resell.

Now. Whoever the guy is that was going to replace his Motion screen should be All Over this.

Thats not policy..... but yea many stores will try to pull that. The lil cell stores in Wal-Mart dont care tho. ;)

Its part of the promotion. Yeah its $49 again but must be a new activation. Its on every Metropcs ad in the local pennysaver and newspaper.

Well, as long as you weren't grandfathered in with an old plan, I don't see why you couldn't get a Corporate store manager and tell him, "Look, if you want to press this, deactivate my current line NOW and activate a new line and port my old number over."

Or,

You sell me the phone for $50 and I'll even pay you your activate charge I *would* have to pay.

That's fair for everyone, they get the same $ as if you'd activated a new line and you get the instant rebate. (Ok, so yeah, you have to pay the $15 activate. It's called compromise but it also puts then in a position it's hard for them to defend Against.)

honestly what would keep you from buying it at the store and telling them it is a new activation, and then saying you will call to activate it. They can't force you to activate it and are they gonna call you a liar if you tell them you don't have metro service?

It's very simple.

They just Won't sell you a phone In The Stores (any of them, Corp or Authorized) Without activating it.

That's why I suggested my idea (which incidentally, no one has said wouldn't work and given any reason(s) why).

I DO still think you can "force their hand" but *I* would take it to a Corp store and speak directly to the Manager. They are probably The Best Most Likely chance you have of them seeing that you kind of have them over a barrel and agreeing to give you the $50 phone under your old number IF you pony up the activate fee for their "kitty".
