Motion Detection Notification Ideas?

I have a computer camera in my apartment and it will send an email with images attached should motion be detected.

I was wondering how I could set this up with a different notification tone as other email so when I hear a certain tone I know it is someone inside my apartment.

Interesting. Unfortunately, the stock email apps don't allow custom notification tones for emails like they do for callers on the phone.

What I would do is create a gmail or yahoo account just for this purpose. Setup an email app on your phone that is only used for this purpose, either the stock email app if you don't use it yourself, or install K9, yahoo or another email app. Set the notification on that app to be different from your normal email account notification. Set the webcam program to email this new email account and VOILA.

Alternatively, * I THINK * if you are using gmail you could set up a rule in gmail that any email coming from the webcam's address gets labeled (create a label for it - "webcam" or something - it doesn't matter). This will automatically label any incoming mail from that email address as "webcam". Then, in the gmail app on your phone, you can go into the settings and manage labels, where you can set up a separate notification for any emails with that label. I haven't tested it, but I think it would work.
