I can't believe that! I wondered why my otterbox commuter case for the galaxy nexus has screen protectors and yet the droid maxx didn't.

Like I wrote above, the screen protector that comes with the OtterBox Commuter for the Maxx pretty much stinks. Good news, though... my favorite protector of all time, the super high-quality Power Support brand (which used to be Apple-only) has come to Motorola:

If these are as good as my past experience, it won't matter that brands like SGP aren't in the Moto Droid game. These were the best back in my (brief) Apple days. I'll have the non-glare version today and I'll let you all know how it works out.

Just installed one of these and it's A+++ all the way. Fit is PERFECT and the non-glare finish is exactly what I remembered and expected from Power Support. It does almost nothing to degrade detail in the image yet hides the smudges and stops the compulsive screen-wiping many of us just can't refrain from. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I'm torn between the Diztronic and the Bumper. I've always gone nekkid without issue but I feel like this phone breaks easier than my D4 or D3 would. I dropped those a few times and they were fine but I get the feeling one slip and this thing will go POP.

I have the Qmatix on there now but it's way too bulky for me.

I've had the bumper case since release date and very satisfied with it. I don't think the Maxx is really that fragile. If it drops on the 5 " screen it could be a problem but with the kevlar back and bumper case which has a ridge around the front that helps protect the gorilla glass is good. Haven't heard of a lot of complaints about breakage either but it is an electronic device and should be treated with some care. If anything I think it is more rugged than most 5" phones.

I tried and returned both, though I believe the DualPro is easily the better off the two. I like the Diztronic and better yet Verizon Bumper much more.

The commuter for me was way too big. I actually noticed very little difference in size to the defender so I exchanged.

I'd say the dual pro is better than the commuter.

I haven't tried the Incipio, but was using the Commuter for a week to ten days. I agree with others - it is, unfortunately, way to big (and heavy.) I like the idea of protecting my USB port and headphone jack while it's in my pocket, but the phone is already on the heavy side.

Thanks for that, looks like the Commuter is out for me. I have it on my Razr Maxx but it makes that phone about as big as a naked Maxx so I don't think I want to go any bigger. Now that you've thrown in the Diztronic I'll have to check that one out too though I think the Incipio is the leader in the clubhouse.

Are these protectors stick on or are they wet applied like the Zagg shields?
Do you happen to know if these are the same ones V is selling directly in their stores?

They are dry-apply and I don't believe they're the same as the ones sold at VZW. They look just like the images shown on the site I linked above--there are three cutouts at the top for sensors, earpiece, and front-facing camera. They fit perfectly, which means alignment is critical when installing them. The non-glare ones don't degrade the image severely like other non-glare protectors I've seen. In fact, they're barely noticeable and the tradeoff in reduced glare and finger smudges is more than worth it IMHO.

On this note, I was out having a (maybe too) good time last night and while trying to use my phone to get me around town it took a pretty harsh beating, which involved a pretty violent drop onto the sidewalk.

There is an extremely minor scuff on the plastic rim near the top left of the device and the kevlar is untouched. I'm running with no case. This phone is a tank in my book

I just got the TYLT VU wireless charger and it works great!

First off the packaging did not require a machete or ax to open. The lid of the box is held on with three round pieces of tape.

After opening the box and removing the charging stand and included power supply and cable I found that the adapter was designed to maximize space on the power strip, a nice touch.

I placed my phone on the stand in portrait orientation and it started charging without tediously sliding the phone around to align the on screen charger alignment marks. Thrilled, I decided to experiment, removed the phone and turned the phone 180 degrees and returned if to the stand. Again the phone was charging perfectly without any alignment intervention. So I wondered if it would work if the Maxx was placed in landscape orientation, yes it does and on alignment required.

I did not observe any noticeable heating of the Maxx or the charger at any time. Charging is fast and there were no issues with the charger turning on and off as the battery approaches full charge.

I am completely satisfied with the performance of this device and is perfect for the night stand or desk.

IMHO, the griffin dock is a real POS. I don't like the way it holds the phone and I don't like that putting the phone in and taking it out of the dock puts stress on the USB port. Plus, with the bumper case on the phone, the USB port barely reaches and it seems that even a little vibration causes the phone to not charge. I actually got it for free and I still feel like I got ripped off.

I had also read online that LG makes one designed for the LG G2 that would fit the MAXX. It is the same basic style as the one I had for the Bionic which I really liked so I ordered it. It fits, but with no case on the phone, the top clip that holds the phone in lands dead on the volume down button so it constantly pushed that button. With the bumper case, the clip would barely fit over the top edge and I can see that after a few months that will either break or stop holding the phone properly. It's going back to V.

Yesterday, I received the iBolt XPro and I love it. I ordered the version for BB because it was $10 cheaper on Amazon but other than the name on the box, identical to the "universal" one. I like the way the mount holds the phone and it is adjustable so it works with no case or with the bumper case just fine. Plenty of room left, so I'm assuming it will work with just about any other case as well. The one downside to the XPro is it does not have an integrated magnet to automatically launch Car Mode. I'm going to play with that and see if I can add one but if not, the app that iBolt has can easily be launched manually. When I did use a magnet to launch car mode, it gave me the option to run the iBolt app every time in place of stock car mode. Nice!

Surprised that the Griffin is not a POS. Works flawlessly and only takes one hand to place the phone in the dock and remove. No need to plug the charger in and car mode automatically launches. Granted it is not the same as the $70 motorolla docks that no longer exist.
The iBolt requires 2 hands to hold up the spring to place phone in and 2 hands to remove. Not to mention you also have to hold the phone with one hand to connect the charging cable with the other. Too much work!

Maybe I have strong hands... With the cradle attached firmly to the windshield, I can easily place the top edge of the phone under the spring, push up and lock the phone in place. When you shape the charging cable on the dock to the spot you need it, it stays in that shape. I spent about 45 seconds the first time getting it correct and now, it's easy to plug in one handed. The addition of a simple magnet launches car mode or any other driving app you may wish to use.

Not too much work IMHO for a far superior product (iBolt).

This was my issue with it as well. Even with a Griffin case on I cannot get the Griffin car dock to charge the phone while docked. With a third party dock I can attach a USB cable to the bottom of the phone rather than the back of the dock, hoping that the dock's USB connector will work (which it doesn't when I have tried it.)

Just wanted to give a +1 to both the Tudia Ultra Slim Melody TPU case and the Kenu Airframe. The Tudia fits perfectly, is nice and slim, the bump outs for the buttons actual feel like buttons themselves. Best TPU I have had.

The Kenu Airframe works perfectly with the Maxx and the Tudia. I think this is have down the best car holding solution. Portable, universal, low profile, and one hand use.

So Seidio. It's been 5 months. How long does it take to decide? I'm still stuck using the only holster option on the market. The crappy Verizon clam shell that doesn't provide any protection, doesn't hold the phone very securely, and doesn't clip on my belt well. Still waiting for you Seidio. Checking all the time for a Seidio Active case and spring holster. Some times late at night I find myself on the internet looking at other hybrid cases and velcro belt pouches. The later it gets the better they look... but all I really want in my life is you Seidio. I'm yours forever Seidio. I've proven my faithfulness for years. Why are you afraid of committing to me?

It's hard to blame them for not wanting to tool machines for a one-carrier device. I'm sure it's simple economics...they aren't going to make any money.

I've had a Seidio Active on every phone I've ever had until now and am disappointed that I can't get one for this too, but I'm not going to refuse to buy the best case on the market for my next device just because they refused to throw throw money down the toilet on this particular model.

Going to really miss the Active, but there's just no options for this phone. It's either something that offers no protection or this brick. I have a one year old and use my phone hard all day, so no protection just isn't an option.

You may want to look at the Incipio Dual Pro. It's a little lighter and smaller than the commuter. I think they have them at vzw stores. When I looked at them, they unbowed the cases for me so I could look at them.

It has no covers for the USB port or headphone jack, though.
