Technically she's correct. There is a hidden LED behind the top speaker grill, but it only can be accessed once you have rooted the phone, and then only be used as a charging LED. So, no, no LED for notifications but there is an LED to indicate charging (but only if you have rooted the phone and put on a custom ROM). There is a thread about it on XDA, but I'm not able to link to it right now since I'm on my phone and at work.

You don't have to use a custom rom, as there are apps on the play store that does this as well

Yes ... and in all cases you need to be root-ed in order to do it.

Yeah no notification led on this phone. It has been replaced by the moto active display. The phone is meant to be placed face down and when you pick it up and flip it the screen shows your missed notifications in different ways, thru icons or lists. I do miss the blinky light buy this is pretty cool also. Had mine about a week now also liking smart lock.
