Moto G problem

In March, I had problems with my Moto G. The notification light died and would not work at all and the screen would occasionally pop up with what is seen in the photo. I called Motorola a couple of times and finally returned it to them. They replaced something inside, don't know what because I threw the receipt away, and returned it to me. Its the same phone I returned. So last night, the phone did the screen thing again. Now I'm pissed. I'm calling them and telling them they are going to replace it with a new phone or I want a full refund. The refund would be best, them I can replace it with a Nexus 5.

Anyone else seen this problem?

I never heard of this issue. Its good that you are working with Motorola to get this issue fixed. Maybe consider the big brother of the Moto G the Moto X.

That is the AdBlock Plus icon, and that app has been unistalled. I have Cleansweep, Barcode reader, Allsport GPS, Image2Wallpaper, Magicjack, Mr. Number, Runner-Speed, Textfree, Truecaller and Weather. And I have a bunch of factory apps disabled. I don't think any of the apps are the cause, but I might be wrong.

My boss has a Moto X and it freezes on him all the time. The company provided it to him, so he doesn't care. He just reboots it and goes on.

Starting point ...

If you are un-root-ed try running in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them) and if problem(s_ stop it was caused by an app that you added. Then figure out which one.

If the problem persists ... plan on a replacement ... the final step in that will be to do a Factory Data Reset.

The Factory Data Reset might correct the strangeness.

The phone is BONE STOCK. I think a factory reset will do nothing. Besides, its been about a month since I got it back from Motorola. I think I got a made on Friday phone and they need to completely replace it.

I suggested some steps to take. The last step was the Factory Data Reset since you would be doing that on the returned phone anyway.

I have a Droid Maxx. I was in Staples one day ... it rang ... I could not answer it ... the three buttons on the front (not on the screen) stopped working. Power off power on ... still not working. Soft reset ... still not working. Safe Mode ... still not working. I was ready to take it back and as a last step I did a Factory Data Reset.

It has been working properly ever since. If it was still present I would have gotten a replacement.

My gripe is that they had the phone long enough to repair it properly or if they had any doubt, they should have just sent me a new one. The fact that the same problem persists doesn't give confidence they will get it right. I'm planning on calling them tomorrow, so I'll see how it goes. Fingers crossed...

Forgot to mention that this problem is so intermittent, it's just about impossible to recreate. I just shows up at the worst time.

Really. Haven't heard of a Moto X doing that ever.

I haven't either maybe it's a droid x, but that image isn't ad block plus, that is a VBp which makes me go...maybe you installed a fake app, did you us F-Droid. Market place for it? Not I would say factory reset and try getting your apks from better sources.

I've had my phone since Dec. and haven't had any issues like that. Maybe it is a bad device you received. Maybe they should have sent a new phone. They should give new one's that are at least 4-6 months old before sending refurbished or whatever phones they send.

Already having to fight with them to get a new phone, not a fully tested, slightly used phone. And they said no to a refund because its past 30 days.

At this point I will never buy another Motorola product again.

Well not faulting that, I still think you should factory reset

You could try a different launcher but if its a rare problem you probably won't be able to tell if it fixed it.
It also reminds me of artifacting, but I'm not sure that's it

Waiting for a callback from a level 2 tech to try and get it replaced with a new phone. I doubt they will call and I will have to call again and go thru the whole thing again.

Before I sent it in the first time, I did a factory reset and the problem still was there, so I don't see the point.

Followed by you reinstall the same apps that did it the first time
Which is why I asked where did you get the adblock plus app from
