Moto G Stylus still not showing on crimebook

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody, and I kinda hate to wreck it with another silly question, but here goes...I finally got the crimebook to do something moderately useful. I found out how to open crosh and get a command shell. When I typed adb devices it did not show the Stylus plugged into it. I went to that Nathan Chance article and followed the curl -s instructions. Apparently it did what it was supposed to do, although I noticed that it did not mention local, just bin. Maybe that's the problem? Then I typed source -/.bashrc as recommended, only to get invalid option. How do I make this thing recognize the Stylus and get it out of fastboot?

Is there at least a way to make the Stylus quit flashing on and off as it's been doing all night? That can't be good for it and I'm sure it's wearing down the battery. Why does it do that? Should I plug it into the crimebook, directly into a wall outlet, or not at all?

what is flashing on and off?

The screen is. The last I checked the battery was ok but that could definitely change. How do I make it stop?

I figured I didn't really have a choice. Therefore I plugged the Stylus back into the crimebook. It said the battery was low but then changed to ok(charging). The screen is still flashing.

so the screen flashes only when it is plugged in? or it does all the time? if so have you tried rebooting the phone? you may need to factory reset it, if a reboot does not work.

It finally stopped blinking. I don't know if that's good or not. It's still plugged into the crimebook.

Now the thing I've been posting from is pulling shenanigans. This Moto G 5 g seems stable at the moment, but today it rebooted itself multiple times. What is going on with this junk? Is it a Motorola problem? Is this Lenovo to blame?

sounds like a hardware issue. i would hard reset the device and if it starts doing it again, then i would either look to see if it is fixable or get a new device.

Why do they always have the same problems? I get really tired of this. How do I get the crimebook to recognize that lousy Stylus? Can I at least remove the sd card and reuse it?

You can use the SD card.
You have a low end Motorola phone, so yes it's time for a new phone.
Don't bother with that device, it's only going to get worse. It would cost more money to have it fixed than what it's worth.

Seriously, though, I just took that sd card out of the Stylus and stuck it in the Moto G 5 g. I'm glad I did. For now I'm just copying files instead of moving them. I still want to fix the Stylus, though. I just took another stab (luckless, of course) at it before I did the surgery. Why doesn't that lousy crimebook recognize the thing? I don't know what else I can do. Is there some computer expert on here?

i do not think it is the chromebook. i think it is your crappy phone.

but to be sure have you tried this?

On a whim I plugged the Moto G Play into the crimebook...crickets. It didn't light up at all. When I tried adb devices it said the same thing about a device list, useless. Then I swapped in the Stylus. At least it showed the same crap as previously, battery ok charging. HOW do I fix this? Is there no one who can help?
