Help moto g3 screen doesnt light lighten i receive a call or text message

My phone screen just stays black when i get a call
So i am unable to answer it.
Ambient Display was turned off so tried turning it on.
But no change
Please help.

What system version are you using? Is your phone root-ed? Do you have a case or screen protector on it?

I am using lollipop android 5.0.2
It has only started doing it since I download this update
I don't know how to root lol Just want to answer my phone

No screen protector.

It has a case But had it 18months and its been fine
Tried it with the case open but it still wont work

It rings but the screen stays black If I switch the screen on the ringing stops
