Moto Question

Just received a couple Droid Turbos and loving 'em! I'm trying to figure out if it's possible, that via the Moto app or otherwise, if I can add some text to the lock screen (the one that opens when you wave over or reach for the phone). Right now it shows the time and a lock (unless we have notifications).

My wife and I have identical phones running Lollipop 5.1 and we tend to mix them up since everything looks identical (so far). It would be great to wave over the phone and have our names shown along with the time and lock. I really don't want to lose that feature by turning it off, unless of course we can still wave over the phone to get the main lock screen, but I haven't seen any options for that.

Tnx!

Welcome to Android Forums.

This Turbo thread is moved to the Turbo forum.

Have her record a phrase in her Turbo for OK Google Now.
You record a phrase in your Turbo for OK Google Now.

Either of you speak either phrase next to a phone (even when it is locked).

It will only respond to her if it is hers and to you if it is yours.

The big difference in the Turbo ... it is always listening for the phrase.

Just to answer the question: No, you can't add any text to the Moto display screen. It shows what it shows. There are no options to add more text.

Thom's solution sounds smart.

If you're inclined to get a case for the phone (which tends to protect it), that would help tell them apart.

Otherwise maybe a small sticker or decal on the back or side of the phone?

You can certainly add text to the lock screen (not sure if that's what you mean by "Moto display screen") under Settings > Security > owner info

I offer a reward for return with my name, Gmail address and Google Voice number; it has worked.

Naw, that setting is for the 'next layer' of access (if you choose to use it) and it will show whatever you typed in. We're talking about the very first layer, where, if you hit the power button, or wait for the screen to go black, you can wave over or reach for the phone and it will present to you the time, and a lock icon and/or message icons. That's when you touch and drag to whatever is showing and the screen wakes up.

So the wave or reach that brings up the time, etc, is where it would be nice to have your name or message shown.

What's my reward and can I drive it? :)

He and I were talking not about the lockscreen which shows up when you press the power button, but the Moto display screen, which pulses on and off and shows just notification icons, or the lock icon, with the time only. You cannot add information to the Moto display screen.
