Help Motoblur App Dock

OK, first of all let me assure you that I did search before asking this and got no where.

I am using the standard, supplied with the phone, launcher. I have GO Dialer assigned to the far left button on the app bar. The next button is GO SMS Pro, the next is Dolphin HD and, of course, the last one is the App Drawer itself. When I reboot the phone, the two middle buttons turn into question marks and I have to re-assign them. Now granted, wth an Android system, I don't reboot the phone that often, but it bothers me that the two middle buttons won't keep their assignments. The first button, which is assigned Go Dialer, doesn't loose its assignment. Anybody know what my problem is? Any help will be graciously appreciated. I am tempted to reset the phone, but don't want to go through all the set-up again.

I am running stock 902 and am not rooted.

I don't know if this would be related or not, but are the two that turn to question marks installed on the SD card (media area)? My thinking is that maybe the launcher is trying to display them before the card is mounted.

I am very proficient at these things and have rooted several phones and used to change ROMs frequently, yada yada yada...

I never even thought about those two items being installed on the SD card, but they are. I moved one of the apps back to the phone and reapplied the shortcut to the dock and rebooted. BOOM ... it worked fine. The one I moved back held and the other failed again.

Last night, on a whim, I decided to change launchers. I purchased SPB Mobile Shell 3D quite some time ago and used it for a while then needed a change and cycled through several others before ending back up on MotoBlur. Anyway, I went back to Mobile Shell 3D and it doesnt' exhibit the same problem. I guess Mobile Shell uses some sort of icon cache whereas MotoBlur doesn't.
