I am from HTC and new to Atrix, I've lot of contacts and some calender entries need to transfer to the new phone, I can't find a way to import my .vcs calender backup (via email) into the Atrix so I redo them, but my main problem is the contact. I put my contact in the phone memory and they automatically imported into Atrix and it looks ok at first, but when I edit them the names(prefix, suffix...) all got reordered and mess up, I know this is due to I've Chinese character in it. I put my contacts in this format :
English English (1st) Chinese (last)
So supposedly I can change the sort order to display it the way I want ie. English English, Chinese, this way I can find the contact by English easily, but that doesn't work on HTC, the contact just won't sort properly, this is a confirmed bug with HTC due to the phone can't handle Chinese characters well. But this is different story on the Atrix, I've lot more option to put the names and it doesn't seems to have the Chinese problem, but only for few seconds the display looks good, then in a flash the names all got reordered for unknown reason, I tried different combination but still the same, the names just reordered by themselves !!
I finally find the cause of the problem it is the default Google contact synchronization, I dig deep to disable the contact sync and everything returned to normal, I am sure I have no contact left on Gmail, but I don't know why there are at least 2 linked contact in every entry, and in some contact with a Gmail a/c I can see their avatar as well, I don't use Gmail much it is mainly for the Android update/market, but it seems the phone do more than that before ask, duplicating my contact is the most annoying problem to me, I spent hours to fix up my contact every time I change phone, and on the Atrix it won't tell I am using phone or SIM contacts, am I too green to it or you guys also have the some problem, any better apps to replace the build in contact ? thanks !
