Motorola Apps?

MasterE

So I bought my Xperia Play last week.

I'm warming up to it fine and dandy, but after switching from the Motorola Droid X to this, I have missed the factory apps supplied with the Droid. (And the size of the screen, but that's a different matter.)

Knowing about the dexterity of both the android system and it's developers, I ask you all this.

Is there any way to port over Motorola apps/widgets to the Xperia Play?

I would understand if it's not possible, but it never hurts to ask!

As far as I know you would have to root your phone and have a custom ROM loaded that emulates Motoblur.

Yes this would void the warranty unless you did it without unlocking bootloader and was able to unroot before making an exchange if needed.

If you have the U.S. Xperia Play, we are still waiting on root so nothing as of now is possible with what you want. I personally like the Play without a manufacturer's UI because I never used it anyways and it makes updates easier for the carrier/manufacturer plus alleviates extra processes running in the background of the phone making it snappier and quicker.

I have a U.S. Xperia Play. And thanks for telling me that I would need to void my warranty in order to pull it.

Think anybody could turn them into .apk files? Or something of the sort?
