Help Motorola Assist

Has anyone tried the Assist app and the Home 'Speak to me' feature? Is it working for you? I just tried it with my first generation Moto G and it is not working. It doesn't speak when I receive calls and it's not reading text messages I receive.

Any ideas/suggestions?

I haven't used it for at home, but I have had it setup for driving. It does work for that. It'll announce that I have a text and from whom. I then have to tell it to read it.

Yes, I do have the 1st gen version.

The speak to me feature for at home on assist works. I've been using it for almost 2 months now and so far I haven't had any problems at all with it.
