Help Motorola Triumph Replacement Phone Experiences

Is there anyone that has gotten them to replace their MT with a different phone like the one v or the 3D? Just wondering cause my wife broke yet another phone:( and we have the best buy insurance but best buy doesn't have them yet.
Edit: they have the evo but no one v.

I asked them several times to replace my phone with an evo, saving me my time and their money going through countless triumph replacements. Granted, I never actually spoke with a supervisor, but I was told every time that it wasn't an option. "We don't do upgrades." So that's why I kept asking for replacements til I got a new class a triumph, then bought an evo and sold the new triumph, along with all the extra batteries and whatnot I'd accumulated for $200 on craigslist. $100 upgrade, not bad...

How do you guy reach a live adviser on the technical or replacement dept? I've waited at least 30 mins on several occasions, had to hang up just because i can't wait any longer.

I asked for the direct number, but the CSR said he can't give that to me.

I got mine through the VMUSocialCare (VMUSocialCare@sprint.com) folks - they are the ones that monitor the Facebook page. Charger/file transfer issues were popping up, so I figured I better get a replacement before my year was up. The replacement was a brand new phone in the retail package.:D

It took about three e-mails back and forth (they responded within 10 minutes of my initial e-mail) and the new phone was on the way (overnight for free!). Another e-mail when I got it to activate/program it and I was up and running!:D:D:D All without have to actually talk to anybody - perfect!

I'd recommend going that way instead of trying to deal with customer service at Virgin or Motorola.

Edit - I'd also recommend installing the CM7 TG-reloaded ROM immediately! In this forum.

Email like this guy did. I had a new one in the mail within 20 minutes of emailing them.

my first replacement i did over email. took a week just to hear a response i ended up cancelling and calling c/s and demanded a new phone, that time it was brand new sealed, now im on my 4th triumph, it is a refurb and wasnt even built correctly.

off the rip i noticed that the lcd screen near the search hotkey is lower than the other sides of the lcd, so light from the hotkey is leaked onto the screen causing a beam of light that goes all the way to the other side of the screen.

there is a blemish in top center of lcd screen

the menu hotkey lighting is so bright it is distracting

and the mic is muffled

this is how it came from virgin mobile, i havnt called back yet waiting for the old phone to reach vm

and just 2 mins ago the screen was a foggy white snow like until i locked the phone
i am so tired of the problems...

anybody file a class action yet, lol...

My third replacement phone is going through batteries so fast. Could this be a phone issue? A 2 month old Anker battery lasts about 4 hours if I use it at all, or 5 if not. Not sure it's charging right either.

How can you tell the class? Each came in a plain white box, just to phone body.

I asked for a replacement battery on the original (which died) and they are out of stock.

The Triumph I have has been fine so far. I wouldn't say that they are the greatest phones, but not bad.

Class a is brand new never activated, may have been returned in 30 days, class b has been used but most items are included, class c is bare phone in a box.

I got my Triumph in May 2012 and until last week I had no problems with it whatsoever. I use the GPS a lot and it just totally went out on me. I've been reading the forums here since I got my phone and used the email address listed in this thread to contact Virgin Mobile about my GPS problem. I received a return email within 10 minutes saying that they would replace my phone. I also told them that my battery door didn't stay on very well and they said they would replace that as well and send me a separate battery door.(because of that statement I assumed I would be getting a refurb)

They overnighted a replacement to me, which turned out to be a brand new phone in the retail box, which I was very excited about. Funny enough, they also sent me a separate battery door replacement too. So I have an extra battery door if I ever need it. I'm quite happy to have gotten an extra battery for my phone too!

Overall I am very surprised with how smooth the whole replacement process went. It was quicker and easier than getting replacements through Sprint and Verizon in the past. Great job from a prepaid company!

I've been dealing with a lot of small triumph issues since the day I got the phone, but for the past week I've been having touch screen issues that make the phone unusable. Here are some of the issues I've been having.

-Bright line that goes down the middle of the screen. If I'm looking at grey or white or any light colored pixels I can see a feint line running down the screen along with a slight blotch at the bottom towards the soft buttons. Not causing any issues, but forces me to choose a dark wallpaper.

-Charging port only works with certain micro-usb cords.

-Now, touching any letter on my keyboard will cause many other letters to be input, if I'm on my lockscreen my single ring in the middle will start shaking like I'm trying to slide it up and down very fast.

So my question to all of you is, what experiences have you had with your refurbished replacement? How many replacements have you had so far and what were the issues plaguing the phones? While Virgin's defective item policy is very lenient and simple, it almost seems like they are just passing broken phones around to different users and it's almost luck of the draw to get a replacement that is COMPLETELY free of issues.

I have had 4 replacements and the replacement i received 3 days ago doesnt work either!! something MUST be doen I pd $300 for this piece of junk! and VM wont replace it w/ another phone , like yiu said they are just passing one bad phone to another....it has to stop

i think it needs to done, asap. I'm looking into it & will keep the forum updated

I doubt anything will come of a class action but let me know if it does. I went through 6 MT POS's before dumping it for the Evo V. Experience with it hasn't been amazing either. We have our own issues with the Evo lol.

In regards to CM7, I always flashed back to the stock rom before sending an MT back but I left it rooted.

Bought my Triumph from Target back in 09/2011 exchanged it twice at target no questions asked due to camera issues. Now the screen digitizer is extremely unresponsive I can press Home button many times with no action and I don't know if a software update was silently sent but I get this recently used program screen that appears often when I press the home screen and I have never seen this screen prior to the last month or so see pic attached. I called Vmobile and they are sending me a replacement. Warranty is up on 09/05/2011. After that I have through my Visa card 1 year extended warranty through Motorola.

08/24/2011 Wow that was quick got my replacement today was FedEx'd Overnight and it's up and running fine, at least for now.

While you are correct to question what type of relief "MEBLESSED" is seeking you are way off the mark concerning the Moto Triumph & the hardware & software issues that plague it. Earlier this afternoon I called Virgin Mobile to request what will be my 10th replacement in less than a year, all for the same problem. The very problem listed on the link provided above. Charging issues. The phone was obviously manufactured poorly & followed up with zero quality control for this to be a reoccurring theme. Lets not touch on my constant inability to get a solid connection via GPS without the phone slipping into 1x territory rendering the phone 99% useless. Oh, and the Bluetooth you can forget about. Its never worked for more than a minute into the call. As far as relief is concerned it would be a no brainer for any judge. Fraudulent claims come to mind as the Bluetooth & GPS are featured selling points. All you would need to do is duplicate the issues with the phone which would be a breeze because I check them daily hoping a patch got pushed to the phone. With my well documented problems with the piece of junk I'd be a shoo in.

After I became incensed by the dismissive & aloof attitude from VM's customer service I contacted someone directly with Sprint. A lady i had been dealing with concerning the phone back in May. She is with Sprint's Executive & Regulatory Services Group. She told me that they are well aware of the problem & the honchos at Sprint have offered what they think is a "compromise". A replace phone of a different make & model. Option 1: LG Optimus Slider, #2: LG Optimus Elite, #3: HTC One V (all serious downgrades specification wise) & #4: A $100 credit on my account to offset the price of a new phone (an insult)t. I've decided to decline their offer. Small claims is more my speed. I could only imagine that $100 would be somewhere in the ballpark of the settlement per person after the attorneys get their hands on it. I'm currently looking into the steps needed to file here in Philadelphia, PA. The phone would only need to continue doing what it does on a daily basics for me to succeed. I will keep posting my progress here. Anything less than a full refund is unacceptable in my eyes.

Can you go into detail about how you got offered those phones. Our Triumph Warranties are ending soon(sometime in September I believe) and it would be nice to replace it when it inevitably bites the dust. I wouldn't mind replacing my triumph with a One V if its free. Would save a lot of money and you would get a decent phone out of it. The One V is pretty much the same as the triumph with a slightly smaller screen(3.7 inches) and it has ICS.

While I respect that your device may be experiencing these issues, please understand that like many others, mine isn't. I agree about the GPS, but it can be easily patched to run flawlessly. I have also replaced my Triumph 3 too many times, but for other issues. None of them had charging port issues. My most recent one had a manufacture date of 12 December 2011. This one had almost no issues out of the box, aside from screen flickering on unlock. the GPS even worked, albeit a little slow. My point is, that not everybody experienced these issues, and that that fact alone would most likely break your case.

So, you lucked up and only had to replace your phone a small handful of times and not a ton like others have. Congratulations. So what you haven't experienced the same issues. In no court of law will your experience invalidate someone else's. Well, not as far as consumer protection is concerned anyway. At least we can agree on the GPS, although we veer off in totally different directions when talk of some phantom patch is mentioned. Yes, in theory a patch can be made to resolve the problem. The question is who is creating this patch. Motorola certainly isn't. Wouldn't a patch from anyone else void the phones warranty and effectively kill any chance of recovering any damages? I couldn't care less if you never had a GPS issue (or any other issue for that matter). If you re-read my reply you will see that I never expressed any interest in being included in a class action lawsuit. I even gave an example of why it was not practical for me. Heres another one for you: The burden of proof in a small claims case is minuscule compared to that of a class action lawsuit. I only need to provide documentation (I keep everything in a nice organized file) of the problems I have experienced and then duplicate the glaringly fraudulent ones. I'd be willing to bet the farm that when the time comes for this phone to operate well below the specifications that are on paper for it I will not be disappointed.

If I have to have mine replaced again I may look into replacing it with the HTC One V.
Anyone on here successfully gotten their phone replace with another model?

I recall one person on here saying that after about there 6th replacement they were offered a different phone, but irk about that

Better bet would be if u bought the phone from a store with an extended warrenty, I believe it was mobstergunz who was given an evo replacement at bestbuy

That would be amazing to get an Evo as a replacement! I won't hold my breath for that. haha

I've only had my phone for a few months. Already had Virgin replace it once. I don't have any sort of extended warranty at all.
If it weren't for custom roms, this phone would pretty much be unusable in my opinion. It's at least tolerable with CM7 on it.

That's only because they had BB's black tie warranty, just had to pay like the $40 difference. I went through 6 replacement Triumphs and was told point blank that Virgin would never replace the phone with a different model unless the phone was no longer available. I was able to get Executive Escalations to credit me the difference between what I paid for the phone and what I was able to sell it for. That only came about because of me filing a complaint with the BBB concerning my ongoing difficulties with the phone. Good luck, I personally think that the lawsuit is a non starter, your much better off trying to negotiate one on one, VMUSA would never admit to fault in a lawsuit. Also in the ToS they specifically state that you're enjoindered from filing a class action against them, that just leaves Motorola, which was just purchased by Google so that would also be difficult to win.
