Motorola Xoom or ASUS EEE Transformer

Which one should I get?

Its not clear to me moto will have a wi-fi only option. The moto is likely to cost you $800. At this stage of tablet development - go with cheaper options.

I'm still holding out for the Adam though. A wifi only LCd will run you $425 which includes shipping.
 
Between those two? It would depend on how much the xoom will cost both for the tablet and if it requires a dataplan. From what I know, the Asus will start at 400 so to me that's a pretty good price for what you get. I hope the asus will be available at retail stores because that's also a requirement of mine. I don't like ordering online, I like to be able to physically test it out.
 
I'll say the Transformer, just because its the one with the wifi only option right now. As gamul1 said its not a sure thing that the Xoom will have a wifi only version.

BTW no forum dedicated to the Asus tablets?
 
Doesn't the Transformer use a IPS panel and the Xoom just a standard LCD panel? Seeing as they'll probably both be in the same price range, it seems the Asus would be a better deal.
 
After seeing the CES footage of the Asus transformer, that would be my choice right now. VERY thin, IPS screen, and I like the ability to dock with the keyboard to make it a nice little laptop. Of course until any of these units have true user feedback, we are all kinda just guessing.
 
As of Jan. 12th, Asus announced that the two tablets - the Slider and Transformer, will NOT be using Honeycomb when they come out (at CES they said they would use Honeycomb). That pretty much kills these two!!! What an incredibly dumb move! On top of that, they just announced that they will not come out in the second quarter as stated at CES, but will come out in the third quarter. :mad:

Do you have the link/reference to that?

3rd quarter - well - that will pretty much kill their success unless the Xoom and others come out that late too.

But this is getting rediculous all this waiting for tablets that never come. The whole second half of last year was "wait until Q1 when honeycomb comes out" - nows its wait for 6 more months for less than you waited for.

We're you really surprised? I wasn't. Unless a bunch of these companies decide to release a 2.2 tablet instead then upgrade later. Which to me would be disappointing too.
 
The Transformer looks like a slick tablet; however, as others have pointed out the problem is going to be that it might not have Honeycomb at release. I would love to be able to decide between the Xoom and Transformer, but will only go with a Honeycomb laptop.
 
Definitely disappointing if true about no Honeycomb. But if there is no WiFi only version of the Xoom upon initial release I won't be buying that one either.
 
Hope it isn't true about the Asus transformer and no honeycomb.... that was my top choice as of now for my next tab, but with no honeycomb I'll pass.
 
Never been a doubt that they will GET Honeycomb. The problem is it looks like they will not RELEASE with Honeycomb.

"even though we were told at CES that Honeycomb will be on these tablets at launch, the folks we met today said that they'll be shipped with Gingerbread instead; and even then, there's no time frame for the 3.0 upgrade just yet. "
 
No matter if there's a delay, the price will determine if I get the Xoom or wait for the Asus. I already have a good tablet to hold me over so I won't feel as rushed to decide on my next tablet device.
