Help Mount as disk drive failure

Hi,

I've just bought a 5-port USB hub to plug into the back of my PC so I can plug my Desire into that instead of the slow as hell USB1 ports on the front of my PC. However when I plug my Desire into this hub it will charge, but windows doesn't recognise the device and I can't mount it as a disk drive.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Can you mount your Desire as disk drive if you plug it directly (without the hub) in the USB on the back of your PC?

Harry

USB hubs generally knock a little something off. Using these and sometimes even extension cables usually prevent many USB devices from working correctly.

Its nothing new I am afraid.

Damn, I bought it solely for this purpose too! :(

Sorry dude.

Its not always the case, but more often than not, it is.

Could see if you can get a longer cable maybe? Leave it plugged in?

The cable is fine, I use a nokia cable which is slightly longer than the HTC one, it's just that I use other devices (Tom Tom, etc) which need to be plugged in from time to time too, and going under my desk each time is a pain :P

I'm going to see whether windows has installed dodgy drivers for it and if the manufacturer's ones work before I write it off.

Thanks!

I have heard bad things about some Nokia cables. have you tried your hub using the genuine HTC cable?
