Root Mount Phone as USB Memory?

Is there a way to enable this option?

Under Windows XP, when I plug in my Optimus, Windows doesn't recognize it.

Ditto Linux.

If I recall correctly, this has to be enabled on the phone. So how can I do that? (If possible, w/o an extra app.)

So to be clear I want to be able to plug in my phone to my PC. Then have the SD Card show up like a USB memory stick, so that in Windows Explorer, I can drag-and-drop files to the card.

Currently have a rooted Android 2.2.

When you plug in your phone it should say that it is USB connected and give you the option of enabling it. Hit the button and windows should then recognized
it so you can drag and drop.

Go to "Settings / Applications / Development" and deselect "USB debugging". Or if this is enabled, go to notification tray (upper tray with status) and mount SD as USB memory (I don't know exactly how is this function called, but there are not so many fields).

someone doesn't really use Windows so those drivers don't really work for that person. Thanks though.

@kejlyCZ. Yeah that was the problem. With USB debugging disabled, when I plug in the phone to my Linux PC, it reads it like a USB memory card.

You'll excuse my confusion using your own words:

Why mention WinXP if you don't really use it?
For future reference, USB debugging disables the auto-prompt regardless of OS. Use the tip kejlyCZ gave you in either case.

@Darnell0216 I mentioned both OS'es to show that it wasn't a problem with my PC but with some misconfiguration with the phone. And it was. Thanks all for the help.
